The fact that you've managed this on an adaptive bike is absolutely amazing. Just goes to show how much we can come together through riding. Great vid!

Here are hugs and hopes for your improvement. Medical technology is always improving at lightening speed. I've had back surgeries starting at age 21, now 78 just had a spinal cord stimulator, my 4th surgery. How lucky we are to have space age western medicine!! And that is our hope.God bless.

While watching the video I was concerned that your turning and moving inside could accidentally hook a wheel over the edge of the doorway. So... re the orange straps on the lifting arm. I'd be inclined to have an aluminum plate about the width of the side door opening, and 4-5" high. Hinged to the sill of the side door. Once you're in the van, hook the orange straps to hold the plate, vertically. That would stop any chance of your chair wheel from going over the edge. And the strap hooks would not bang the glass. Not a coffee purist, so Walmart freeze dry coffee works fine. and $$ low. I would test drive to some cold locations to test: insulation, heating, and fuel/water consumption. Also know what season/weather might be during ur AK trip. Congrats, your van has the SAK seal of approval. (Swiss Army Knife) B-)

All good points! A friend of mine fell out of his van. Definitely need to figure out some type of stopper. Keeping van level is key. Thanks for watching!!!

I gotta say, every time you moved I’m like, “close that door”!!! lol. I am a 42 year Para, been looking at vans because I want to be able to just go. This was fantastic! Now I am thinking it may be too much crap to do. lol. Then again, that’s been my life. Figuring out how to do the next thing. Should have seen me trying to get my bike on a rack on my car. Figuring that out was a comedy for the neighbors I’m sure.

That’s a great question. This van is configured specifically for me. If that transfer is too hard for someone, then they would definitely need something different

The Bowhead is definitely better on off camber, but the purpose of this ride to perform an assessment based on the average rider, not necessarily to rip it. Thanks for watching!

I was just recently paralyzed in an mtb accident and am on the road to recovery. I just had a question as far as AD goes (Autonomic Dysreflexia). I was wondering if you had it or know anyone that has it. How do you manage it with riding? Losing the things i love kills me more than not being able to walk, so I am determined to get back to riding by any means necessary. My only concern is having a seizure in the middle of a ride. Any advise? Love your videos BTW please keep them coming because they are so motivating.
@jpmcghee6 ай бұрын
Jarry, that’s a tough one. Every body is different. For me, if I feel AD coming on, Advil, water, and lay down does the trick. But I’m a low injury (T10) and if a seizure is possible, I would probably not ever ride alone and have an emergency action plan in place

Since making this video, I've found that Kauai Coffee is the best. The material used to seal them is much better than the paper of the brand mentioned in the video. Doesn't leave anything behind. Works super good.
