Hey, I was wondering what would still cause the model to spin around whenever they jump? I made sure all of the colliders didn't have "is trigger" enabled, however it still does that. Could it be because I have phys bone colliders in the same spot?

its annoying how simple and easy fix that is, it took me months just to finally give in and google some guide, just for a damn 2 button clicks fix i wish there were a unity script where it actually tells ya WHATS the issues, WHERES the issues and HOW to fix issue, instead of "you have unknown error" and leaves it at that TwT

Can you tell me why my cat ear accessories that i got from Booth that I applied to my avatar in Vroid Studio doesn't have physics Unity, even after optimizing them in Blender & also adding a physbone component to the ears in Unity? ? Also, my dress also has no physics & can't seem to add physics to the bottom of the dress either, even though in Blender there were bones there. There are clearly some things i need to go back to vroid studio or blender to fix/change, if not both. If you have any clues of deduction as to why i am having these problems, then pls let me know. Thnx. Love the vid btw. Gj.

Write defaults doesn't break anything unless you set up your layers to need to remember the previous state when entering a state that uses the same animations. I don't see the point in turning it off in "all/most" cases I see people complain in tutorials here on KZbin. I prefer in every single setup I've created to return back to the default state when returning to the same animation within another layer, but almost never need to have the same animation in two or more different layers regardless, making turning write defaults off absolutely pointless and a waste of time unless you need to for a specific setup which will always have alternative configurations to create the same effect with write defaults on to begin with. I've never had a problem with it. Ever.
@velvet81173 ай бұрын
happy for you I guess? not sure how I'm supposed to respond.
@velvet81173 ай бұрын
forgive my snappiness, but this is 1. a video from 2 years ago. 2. this is a tutorial for the general majority of people in the vrc community who either make or edit avatars for fun. write defaults is a complicated subject that many don't understand, and therefore, the 'standard' that's been created is WD OFF. Many systems and tutorials cater to WD off. Mixed states on one animator causes issues. Hence my tutorial emphasizing WD off. I'm glad you understand WD and can apply your own knowledge to you models rather than follow tutorials, but that is not the case for the general majority. I am not the person to watch if you're going to comment rude, backhanded things like this without trying to understand the root of the made up "issue".

with the past 2 or 3 updates my models now have the claw hand issue on some and not others. when an avatar has the claw hand issue it results in me removing those masks but it still has the issue nowadays so i'm not sure if it's something more. i even try to switch to the fake index gestures so quests can use them but even then still getting the claw hand issue. not exactly sure whats going on with it at this point because if i remove the masks then the hands will move on index and desktop but the animations on the gestures don't activate.
@velvet81174 ай бұрын
i am on hiatus due to taking 24 credit semesters in college, i unfortunately dont play vrc anymore so i dont know what would be causing it this time :( im sure you checked but.. do you have gestures locked? it might help to ask in some avatar servers, if anyone else is experiencing this!!
@syyanidevr3 ай бұрын
@@velvet8117hi there, i figured out a fix to the issue! Due to Vrchat's latest updates you can only remove the masks on the left and right hand layers in the FX. the "All Parts" layer has to keep the mask or it will give you an error in the SDK panel and will not allow upload. ALSO using the "fake index gestures" helps with this. But in order to use these gestures you have to put it in the "gestures" box where the playable layers are as well as merging the FX to the main FX layer so you have the gestures that move on the face as well as the finger animations! with the FX that goes in the playable layers though you can remove the masks on every layer - its only the main FX you have to keep the mask on "All Parts"

would this method work for other things like moving hair on your models, or giving them tails, wings or animal ears? if you havn't made a vid on that i'd like to see how that would work.
@velvet81175 ай бұрын
if you're referring to vrchat, then no. it would be more of a hassle to set that up and it would not look good. vrchat has a physics solver called physbones and that's what you would use. for vtuber, dynamic bones is a package for unity which essentially is the same thing.

Nice tutorial. A couple of tips: 1. If you're having trouble making the new UV map, you can use "Lightmap Pack" (a couple options down from "Unwrap"). This is designed for situations like this where the main UV re-uses texture areas repeatedly, but you need a map where every face can have unique information. The nice thing about lightmaps is that they don't require any human intervention. The whole model is just reduced to squares with proportional area and then fit into a square in the UV map. (Unity will even create lightmaps when you import an object, because it is required for all kinds of light baking). 2. You can bake the AO right in Blender if you don't have substance painter. You'll want a video tutorial because it's hard to explain in text. Roughly: Make a new material using a new image texture with "vector" set to your new UV map. In the shading tab, click on the image so it is active (outlined in white). This is how baking determines where the output goes (and is the least intuitive step, imo!). Then under render properties, choose "cycles", scroll down to bake and change type from "combined" to "ambient occlusion" and click "bake". The in the lower left of the shading panel (which is an "image editor") you can click the hamburger icon to save the image out.

you could definitely use this. if you're using it for your own game, look into other custom tools to help, because the built in cloth is extremely rudimentary. this tutorial was geared towards VRChat where we can't have custom scripts on our models
