I drive from Toledo to this mall just to go to that pinball aracde. They have a great assortment of pinball games.

I visit there frequently, since it’s near my house and has a Hot Topic and Spencer’s right there next to each other, plus a movie theatre- all good things for an Orlando teen. I remember I went once with a few friends and we were ecstatic to see such a high number of visitors- 21. The vending machines are still restocked regularly (I assume, since I haven’t gotten food poisoning yet), but the soda ads still have the old Coke Zero bottles on them. It’s sad to see it in such a miserable state. I still love it, though, as eerie as it may be.

So this mall is 40mins from me & I don’t think I ever step foot inside but man this mall is HUGE! can’t believe how Dead it is.. west oak used to be the mall I went as a teenager but it’s also dead too.. The Florida mall is the one I go to in the Orlando area sometimes the outlets

You cannot enter or exit through the North entrance that you exit at the end of your video any longer. Only the South entrance by the theater is open. It’s sad to see as Sarasota Square Mall was THE MALL in the 90’s and early 2000’s to go to in town. Had lots of people shopping there with many good stores to choose from. Now it is only the UTC MALL on University by Lakewood Ranch that is worth going to and even they are starting to struggle now being open for 10+ years.

I was just there today to see Alien: Romulus in IMAX at the AMC THEATER that is still open at the eastern end of the mall

I love the vintage feel of this place. As soon as you stepped in, it felt like we went back in time. It does remind me of an old office building in a way

I think this mall is doing well. I see a lot of people in there shopping. It looks like it’s hanging in there. I hope it continues to do well. I love it! It looks vintage and cozy.

As you know, Big Lots is closing around 300 stores in USA, but this one is NOT listed as closing. This mall looks like it is stuck in the 1980s

This is honestly depressing to see. So many memories of being a teenager in early 00s and hanging with all my friends at the arcade, pac-sun, journeys, hot topic, Spencer's, and buying moves at Suncoast. Geez my childhood is being buried.😢

I know it costs a lot of money, but I'm sure the building could see some success if turned into housing. Assuming it would be affordable cause the last think Orlando needs are more "luxury" apartments.

Do they have any plans to do anything with this mall? Like I’m surprised it’s still there. The west oaks mall is dead as well.

I work in Elyria and still go to the mall about once a week to get lunch at yehee. It's going to be demolished soon and the foundation will be used to build office buildings or something similar I believe.

First time to see a dead mall I've been to from any channel I watch. So surreal. 😅 My old local mall was the Seminole Town Centre in Sanford, FL. From when I visited it October '22 and then again about six months later it changed so drastically. Hope someone does a video on that one some day. All malls deserve to be remembered. 🥺 I'm weird, I know. 😅

I used to like this mall. Until the security started hassling me for bringing outside food into what is the food court. I'm 65 this year and I won't have a security guard following me around like I'm a 12 year old. Overbearing Guards can kill dying malls.

I remember getting my books and watching movies in this mall 40 years ago. Now it’ll be homes for people. Sad. I watched ET and return of the Jedi there in the 80s

The owners are HORRIBLE for this mall. AC was out during heat wave and they refused to even let the businesses access the roof to fix it themselves after they got denied for the request for management to fix it! Multiple stores inside without AC, I think ATT and maybe two others had AC and they had tubes coming out trying to cool it down.

Grew up on a farm not far away. Remember seeing a sign go up in the field announcing "Coming Soon Monument Mall." Of course, the first few years were amazing. Could tell you many stories, including losing our young son in a very busy Walmart store. Left the area in 1996. Been back a few time, seeing the place with fewer and fewer stores knowing it would probably not last. Thanks for the memories!

It's sad, I worked here as a teenager. As a kid, this mall was PACKED anytime we went to it. On Fridays and Saturdays, all of our friends would meet up here, go to the arcade (which is not what you see in this video, there was an Aladdins Castle by the food court when I was younger). KB Toys, Babbages, all of the anchor stores (Macys, Kaufmans, Lazurus and JC Penny) were popping off, totally packed.

I went there once, a dozen years ago. I have lived in various cities and states since, but I've lived the closest ever for the last year. I haven't gone back, despite it being a short walk away now. I remember it being depressing then & I was right about how it would age! I don't need that if I can't even get a pretzel!

This is the mall I grew up with. So sad to see it in such a state now. I can remember when it was always packed with shoppers, especially around Christmas. I still live in the next town over & honestly haven't been there in probably 10 years. There's nothing there for me anymore. The original food court, before the big fire, was where present day JC Penney is, and it was only 1 story then. There's lots of pics of the mall from the 80's and when the fire occured in 94 on Facebook if you dig a bit. I always loved shopping at Hess's (currently Macy's) in the 80's. They had the most rad clothes at the time 😂. Lots of chasing boys around there too & cruising around the parking lot.
@crystalstevens463813 күн бұрын
Additional comment: the day after the fire, JCP had a 90% off sale & it was insane. I didn't get to go but many of my friends got some really great stuff, think leather coats & ski jackets, for 90% off.
