Agree! Not everything has to be ‘restored’. Yes a restoration is often called for. But just sometimes, aside from maintenance, buggy or car should be left as a snap shot of that time! Keep up the great work 👍🏼

I apologize for not making it easy for people to understand the text underneath, it was the first time I did not respect any fanboys, so I thought if arrmaniacs could read why science is not something you can because you watch that dumb comedy show about the girl, the boy, the other boy and their jobs as physicians or P. A teacher, is probably the right translation, I dunno. Aka hipsters. I often say an arrmuparse is better than one in your hand, they want both.. Well, I say I won't judge, but I never shake hands with arrmaniacs, I stare and roll my eyes as a nice gesture when meet these creatures at massive bashing events, 5 cars brought, all Arrma, all upgraded with GPM everything. I never meet a Traxxole, kyoshlobot, Tameyan etc. Puns because they are dumb, loving a brand is retarded. This is not offensive, it is a medical term here. Doctor: Why did you jam your arrm up your rectum, is it because you're retarded or was it an accident everyone can make when rubbing one out through the rectum? Common questions we all have heard our doctor warning you about if you wear arrma stuff, slogan and all. I respect one of those types... The plate platform is the main problem. A boxed girder without a box or girth! And when the axial and horizontal forces are on either side of its strongest points, the weak and unsupported ends, the places beyond the so-called "box", who knows why this always breaks the main frame and those places. Some will say differently, but this way of building an RC car is not the best. You could change the frame into a ribbed hull, something that is possible with little innovation, a self-supported frame. Don't tell me about the Titanic, please. I know you know enough to understand that I hate that film! And ribbed is more like a fuselage of a WW2 fighter, not a ship from that movie! I hate arrma, but only because I meet so many fanboys. Buying a 2K $ plate, CNC milled aircraft aluminum, blah blah. Everything is because Traxxas is for kids according to them, not knowing anything about the brands besides Arrma. I have arrma, Traxxas, Kyosho, Wl, Schumacher etc. Why do you Arrma-niacs stick with 1 brand, and hate its competitors? Every brand sucks, absolutely everything! But that is fixable on most cars, a new ESC helps most cars! And if you believe Spektrum is better than Traxxas on electronics, is it because you know what transistor they use? The number of them, spacing, cooling material density, clever A.I program to help? No! Nobody has a digital ESC besides Castle, but I've heard it does not work so good, and that is bad. A smart ESC is what we need to keep them living. Because I doubt that you will get an ESC that has more transistors than needed. Why does ESC still blow up if you connect it wrong even for a nsno second? We have solid-state relays, something called BMS works on batteries, but if you accidentally touch an xt90 the wrong way. Kaboom!! If someone can explain why everything is directly wired to the PCB, with zero protection??I.e like on sensors/triggers, etc ,where diodes would not interfere, the amount of ESC ruined because of that is immense, most don't know that a little metal flake can burn your ESC, Traxxas esc and castle especially, hobbywing have a watertight solution on their V2 esc.great, why only those..???..

I apologize for my apologies, if anyone thinks retard is offensive, it isn't. Science use latin, and my medication has that word in the title. A definition needs a definite word, so what if you don't like the word. Intentions matters, my intention for arrmoles are not nice. So think about it.. Just an afterthought, I was wondering if I wasn't clear enough. Tudelu

Very cool piece of RC10 history! I picked up a used gold Pan a number of months ago that has been drilled multiple times and will be a perfect donor for a trailing arm conversion to a factory works chassie. I'm looking forward to getting started and slowly collecting what is needed. Great video! Would love to know more about that car's history

There are shock options for the back, but really it’s kind of defeating the purpose. The fun of this car is the charm of 80s technology. Sure there are many buggies that will perform far better, but these were never meant to be performance machines.

Great nostalgic video. I had a standard car maybe 1989ish can't remember mine jumping around much. Maybe having original 540 motor less power helped it! I forgot about the sloppy rear section/axle and motor. Fixed mine with elastic bands? 🤔 😂. A flash back of many happy memories watching this vid.

This is a great throwback for me! But please forgive me because your friend you purchased this great relic of rc history has made a great error. Houge never made aluminium parts nor a single bellcrank steering rack, and furthermore never made front suspension arms. Allec and Lane (A&L) made these parts. Both Houge and A&L seem to have back in the day came out with similar rear suspension products for the RC10 about the same time. Houge had a plastic bellcrank system which was a huge upgrade and replaced the stock AE bellcranks with a 4 bearing system and Losi also made a terrible steel version just before that which the bearings would not fit into without ruining them. A&L developed the longer front arms to widen the narrow front end of the car, and Houge made a wider front end with wider shock tower and used the existing front stock arms. I was sponsored by Houge and know this all as fact.

The Super G came with the yellow shocks just thrown into a Grasshopper2 box with a little yellow Super G sticker in one of the corners. Some of the plastic part trees for the Grasshopper 2's suspension made its way into the kit, hence the black shock bottom. My kit had just had Grasshopper 2 building instructions and I had to just wing building the suspension as a kid.

Yeah mate buy it you won't regret doing so. We've waited nearly 40 years for Tamiya to re release their vintage line up and I won't be able to wait another 40 years . I recently brought 2 Candy green Grasshoppers and a re release of each Super Hot Shot and the original Hot Shot plus a Midnight Pumpkin and a Avante black edition pluses an Egress black edition and now I want to get myself a Hornet too. Oh and I've still got a original 1986 - 1987 Tamiya Fox from when I was a kid. I don't think I'm being greedy, this is my hobby.i absolutely love Tamiya for all their products but especially their RC cars 🥰❤️

This video took me back to my childhood for sure. I wanted an electric buggy to race at our local track wayyyy back circa 1986, and my parents thought that an RC car was something they could just pick up for $40 at Radio Shack. I was working for a whopping 3.35/hr at a grocery store, and saved up money to buy the Hornet, a radio, a spare 540 motor, a Tower 360ST motor (my fave), and all of the running and maintenance supplies. For the better part of two years, I raced the Hornet and WON against many a car I could not afford (Frog, others). MANY good memories of the Hornet. NEVER broke a single part over two years, and would break it down into the early morning hours cleaning and maintaining every part after racing, while watching old-school MTV (those were the great days). I am not sure what happened to my car, I came home from college and don't remember ever seeing it again. Skipping ahead to present day, I am over 50 years old and just found a local RC track and have dove head-first back into the hobby (1/8 scale electric). Wow, the technical side of things are crazy different now with sway bars, droop settings, etc. Still learning, but running my first race next weekend. Thanks for the video!
