I feel sorry for Donkey he is in the 2:33 middle of the fart and burp routine by Sherk and the princess..id nearly gag from the smell of the farts by Shrek and the princess.

Thank you for this! I was honestly just looking up The Scarlet Pimpernel Musical (love that movie ❤) and this one was on the "people also search for" list. Definitely got me curious and now I was just searching YT for all of the songs. Don't know anything about this musical but now I know the nature of the musical itself is a but obscure but the music is underrated lol. I'd have to agree.

When I was a student at Yale the out of town tryout was belt at the Schubert innNew Haven and They had an invited dress rehearsal and they invited some students to see it and I got to attend. I don’t remember much except that there wasn’t really a script and it was a little too sympathetic to the south and romanticized it too much. The music is pretty but I have a hard time feeling sorry for the South.

I totally understand. The song "This Peculiar Institution" on this version of the soundtrack actually got cut from the show and it was one of the few that tackled the issue and didn't do that exact thing. Interesting to see what choices can make or break a show.

So glad there's a version that isn't a live performance shot through a cheap looking camera. I wish the other version didn't get taken down for whatever reason, but this is a good substitute. The two things I liked about the other version compared to this is 1, the instrumental had more energy, and 2, they actually did the rebel yell when it was said in the song. I'll make sure to keep coming back to re-listen again and again as long as it's on KZbin.

So I just noticed something that unfortunately is gonna bug me now. In the Confederate side of this song, Sons of Dixie, one of the two verses is supposed to end with "We'll send'em all a runnin' from the warm Virginia sun, so let'em come a gunnin' and we'll show'em how it's done." It doesn't say that. It instead repeats the same end of the verse.

Got curious on the difference between this and what I assume is the original. I think I need more listens before I decide which I think is better, but this is a really good version and I am glad these are being redone. Also, I saw the musical at Ford Theater in DC. It was for the senior class trip. It was easily one of my favorite parts for the trip, and this is one of my favorites from the musical.
