Thank you! You got Barney Miller and Seinfeld, so I'm good. The Fish and Sanford & Son themes are great, too. Great to see you play them. Always thought Barney Miller started on E ;-)

What's so cool is that he is nailing the changes without probably thinking about the chords. It's the melodic lines that he hears in his head and his ability to transfer that melody on to the fretboard as counterpoint to Jimmy's Guitar and Robert's Voice!!!

The least remarcable memeber of your band is among the top 10 in his instrument of choice. That says a lot about LZ.

JPJ probably has a foam mute under his strings. The bass sounds more compressed even for flatwounds. It was standard practice at the time.

JPJ and Bonham carried so many Zeppelin songs. Plant and Page were awesome. But JPJ was special.

Started playing bass as a teen in '76, listened to this over and over with the headphones on, finally got it right, Never. Love JPJ. Thanks for sharing.

Jonesy was ALWAYS tweaking around with the 'basic' line. He never played it rote, note-for-note. He was the BACKBONE of Zeppelin. He allowed Page the freedom to take off into the stratosphere and come back for a safe landing. Plus. He was a master keyboardist and a damn good mandolin player.

I've always felt that JPJ and Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash were the best bassists in rock music. Their choice of notes is gorgeous. All of it. No scrambled eggs; just perfect notation.

I remember the first time I heard this track it was incredible to me that even with Stevie Wonder’s amazing vocals and harmonica it was James Jamerson’s bass track that jumps out and absolutely drives the whole song…. It says something about your ability when you’re playing with one of the greatest vocalists ever and it’s your rhythm section that stands out so distinctly. Man these folks were so talented!

Too many mistakes to be McCartney. Definitely George. It sounds like a guitar player trying to be a bass player.

Very few bands can produce songs with melodic bass lines. JPJ is definitely awesome, but I feel the magic is the entire band, working together. The Who. The Beatles. Zeppelin. Maybe Rush. and Yes.

If this is Macca he must have just smoked a bone and downed a bottle of 90 proof Scotch. There is absolutely no excitement or feeling in this bass line whatsoever........Unless this is his 1st run through trying to write the bass line.

Can't agree. This is a phenomenal bass line. I am blown away if it actually is George. Way better playing than I thought him capable of!
@inkey22 ай бұрын
@@Sasha-ku8rv After much research it is indeed George Harrison. Hard to believe but yes.. Whenever lennon had to do a bass line it was always terrible. I have followed their careers since 1964, read all the fan mags, then in the internet era gleaned every video and interview. I can even tell you their religions they were born into and all the brands of cigarettes they smoked. Even totally obscure stuff like the first gig Harrison played in a band called the Rebels, the band broke up after one gig. But don't take my word for it. There were about 13 songs where Paul did not play bass.
