Anytime you get over 2 transmitters in a rack you need a combiner. We had the phenyx pro iems for a bit, and had nothing but trouble with them. I got a combiner and some problems went away, but still had issues in complex environments in different cities.

This may be a stupid question, but how would I live edit the tonex in conjunction with the HX Stomp? For example, I’m using the Stomp as my interface and the Tonex is in the FX loop of the Stomp. Do I also need to put the Tonex in interface mode in order to live edit in the software?
@BrandonWells20 күн бұрын
I thiiiink I've been in the same position as you before and my workaround was just to just use the tonex and helix native plugins within a daw to tweak the actual sounds of the preset, and then drop those saved presets onto the pedals lol idk if thats the easiest way, but it made the most sense to me

found this video because Im in the middle of choosing between 2 orangewood guitars. The Echo Live & Pomona Live. Dont really understand the differences between the 2 and which one is better so if you could help me out that'd be great!
@BrandonWells22 күн бұрын
The echo pickup is a Fishman Flex EQ system with a built-in tuner. The Pomona has an LR baggs element bronze with no tuner. It. looks like the body on the Pomona is a tiny bit smaller but I could be wrong.

Cool video, well done! You got me thinking, would a coffee filter work for this application? I have tried the pen-basket thing, which was okay, but not the best solution. I have tried small socks over the mic, which is better. However, if that insert works, a think a coffee filter might do the trick. Rock On!

I am excited to get mine, I got in on the first-24-hours promotion on the Indiegogo. A quick correction, though. Antennas do not need to match brands, they need to match frequencies. You can use any of the available combiners or distros out there with any radio unit that operates in the frequency range that the antenna system is designed for. One of the benefits of this unit is that if you got the 900-band units, there have been extremely few options in the branded combiners (I think only the MiPro unit went up that high) - so to have all of the range this has at this price will make it a game-changer!
@EmanuelSantiagoАй бұрын
I think that that popeo is because you use the microphone very close, those microphones should be used at least 2 or 3 fingers away, if you need to bring it closer, that's already a problem of the mix and it is up to the engineer to raise your mic, you do not have to stick it. Basically what I am saying is that if you use the microphone correctly, it sounds very good, and without vocal explosions.

Awesome video man! I have an XR18 that I use as my main mixer for gigs and events/conferences/weddings. I have 4 PM1 belt-packs for wired IEM's, but I am looking to get the HA8000 V2 headphone amp, so that I have more headroom and can have up to 8 wired IEM's. I also managed to snag 2 P16's at 50% off during the black Friday sales (and a day before they all sold out) so I can add on more IEM's if needed. For Wireless mics I have 3 Sennheiser G2 receivers with an antenna combiner (took me ages to source), 2 G2 Handhelds (my 3rd one stopped working) and 3 G2 Body-pack transmitters. I also have 2 ULTRALINK's for a 16 channel isolated split for sending to FOH or for getting separate recordings. Unfortunately all of this is either loose, or in separate cases, but I'm looking to get a wheeled rack to mount it all in.

Ah nice! having it all tidied up in racks is such a time saver for setup/teardown at a gig.

Really great review and video quality! I also have the same string buzzing issue with my Orangewood Echo. So it’s definitely not specific to this model.
@lengross41262 ай бұрын
I have owned four Orangewood guitars and what I noticed on all of them is they set the action a little too low. The result is that there's always buzzing somewhere. A simple 1/8 turn of the truss rod solves the problem.
@BrandonWellsАй бұрын
Ah good to know. I took mine to get setup, and it turns out it was the string buzzing against the frets towards the headstock behind whatever note I was holding. I forgot the proper term, but yeah they raised the nut a little bit and it was all fixed!

great content!! imo if the drummer can live with wired IEM instead of wireless then u can use the headphone out from... Fx send maybe? then the wireless save it for the bassist the IEM...i think RF venue make some combiner about it too but overall great stuff!

Great video! Very informative. Quick question, since you're not really maxing out the HX's DSP, what's the biggest reason to use these two pedals in tandem? With the new ToneX update, which now allows FX to be used alongside captures, do you think you'd be able to do what you do, with only the ToneX?
@BrandonWells3 ай бұрын
I was using both because I wanted the amp sounds from tonex, not from the HX. Whenever this new tonex firmware drops, I'll be switching to just the tonex as my pedal and my HX will be a backup.

For building your own cables, if you havent started already, it;s not very complicated. Just watch some general safety and how to videos and start doing it! Make sure you buy/build a good fume extractor. I find a lot of people who solder don't emphasize the importance of a good fume extractor. I wear an n95 mask and use a fume extractor. You will save yourself tons of money and time by building you own gear.

Ayo! Love the video. Couple questions if you don’t mind! 1. Has the PlayAudio12 still held up? Trying to find a used one (so hard to find), but hoping that the reliability is truly what everyone says it is. 2. Do your bandmates still use the Phenyx Pro ears? We’re about to buy a dual pack single transmitter unit to save cost since we are broke boys but we definitely want to make sure they’ll work for the small venues we typically play, especially without a RF fin at the moment. Thanks homie!
@BrandonWells4 ай бұрын
1. yeah I've never had any issues with it. not once! 2. yeah they're still on those PP ears. still the occasional random clicks or fuzz, but I imagine it's from all the antennas I have. overall they work just fine and it's stereo, so they're happy
