Hi Jenny! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. Currently in uni and was struggling between which startup to work for and overthinking the whole process without even applying to a single one yet, I really loved your advice on how you said to treat your 20s like an experiment and like failures really don't exist because you are just trying stuff out. I noticed that when I was younger I was naturally inclined to the things I was curious about, but now with all this stress of being an adult, I noticed it slowly vanish. I just wanted to express my great appreciation to you for reminding me of my childhood and to follow my curiosity!

I gave up on Corp for a bit bc of circumstance, layoff, didn't get mentorship quality / growth I wanted. So wanted to work on my own thing. Applied for yc, didn't get in first time but will keep trying.

Your channel is o lovely and niche. I relate to quite well in many ways! From an entrepreneur perspective, I'd be interested in hearing more about how you keep your relationships strong at notion. My most recent experience is with a failed start-up and our communication isn't on the greatest terms.

The thought of whether to quit or keep going is one that I've really been thinking about lately... I think that my internal is overpowering the external as I've already invested too much time and effort at this point and my needs are covered. It's about the long-game, but I often find myself asking whether regret of quitting will burn more than chasing uncertainty... It seems like Jenny has the conviction that this is the right path for her and we're going to continue supporting it/the channel! I don't think I've ever come across a channel with more relatable content at a specific moment in my life than this one. Keep them coming!

These episodes are definitely helpful for me! I recently graduated and I started working fulltime as an application developer for a small company. The question of whether I want to pursue big tech or a startup repeat in my mind all of the time and these vlogs help a bit with that decision 😂.

This is very informative and I like how you divided this thinking into four quadrants of the brain! I currently work for a startup and embracing ambiguity and being able to adapt quickly is super important. I used to work for a bigger corporate company and it’s so structured and bureaucratic, for me it’s almost suffocating! You try to make an improvement or propose one, but your manager just brushes the problem under a rug. Working for a startup is refreshing, it seems like people really want to listen to your ideas!

Not sure what you’re building, but if its a saas, you could always consider shipping pre-mvp products and trying to cashflow it. This is what i started doing at the start of the summer. I also found it helped with my anxiety as I was able to get validated market feedback much faster instead of spinning my wheels trying to guess and guess. Testing my hypotheses as early as possible has helped my mental health so much Though maybe this path is really only viable for technical founders

Thanks for the shoutout Jenny 💓 I've already shared this-but as affirmation bosses, I want you and Amy to know that your stories bring so much joy, positivity, and hope to my day every time I watch your videos. It's an amazing balance you guys manage to achieve with real talk and vulnerability, while also leaving me feeling so hopeful afterwards?? Idk what magic this is, but don't stop.

Hi Jenny! I think you forgot one more source of income from your side gigs. In your previous video, you said you enjoy weightlifting and you seem to love staying fit & healthy. I'm sure you can make a great first business out of this because you know a lot about your target audience's problems and wants. You can then use the money you accumulate here to continue with any business you want to build next. One thing I learned from my business mentors is that, the chances I'll be right on the first business I start is highly unlikely. And to increase the chance of success, I should start with a problem that I'm most familiar because that's how I can deliver great value to my target audience. Hope this helps. P.S. I sent you a message about this in your startup diaries substack email. I'd appreciate your reply there. 😊

Amy's afternoon talk about feeling overwhelmed by ambiguous requirements is EXACTLY what I'm dealing with at a startup that I'm doing contract work for. TMI but vague instructions have led me to feeling overwhelmed and resisting action. I clicked on this vid because it's been a rough week but I'm glad that I did. Your videos always hit the spot.

Hi Jenny! Is one of your personal goals making money to survive then eventually make it big so that you can help your loved ones live comfortably as well? One thing I learned from my mentor is that business is already hard enough. So don't choose the absolute hardest way to solve a problem. You can't seem to get the grants you reach out to. And you need money to survive now, right? Why not start a business about fitness and make the money yourself? You said you love weightlifting and you seem to like being fit. There are tons of people who want to be fit (while still eating foods they love). One big fallacy that my mentor made me realize is that the first is gonna be the forever business.. which it won't. Most entrepreneurs have many businesses over their career and each business, you learn elements that help you build a bigger and better business the next time. Hope this helps. Rooting for you, Raymond P.S. I sent you an email about this. Have you read it?

Thank you for the update video! 🫶 I just watched the one before this, and I love hearing your insights and thoughts six months later. I just gave my resignation notice at work and I’m in that disbelief stage 🥲 I don’t have regrets either though - it feels like a weight has been lifted, and a sense of peace and relief has settled in. Your entry you found again during your retroactive exercise was so powerful and exactly what I needed to hear right now 🫶 thank you! You’re so wise, and I hope your 2024 has been going well! Definitely subscribing and planning to watch more of your and Amy’s videos ❤

I really dig the self-reflection Notion template! It's something that I've started to systematize in my life too, though right now my routine is a single "reflect on my north star" checkbox in my end-of-week checklist. Is the Notion template something that could be shared? Would be curious about giving it a try. 🤔
