How about something for the kids instead? Maybe an arcade or milkshake spot in one ? The next generation need encouragement not more silly lanes. That money could have been used to buy a property that you can convert into something that they can go to and make memories instead of wandering round sheptons empty streets looking for what they can do. Sometimes I think people are so removed from awareness that they don't even think there's a problem. There's a property right next to Costa coffee that's been abandoned for over ten years that could easily be converted into what I mentioned earlier, but no one seems to want to put their money where their mouth is. So you get what we have here, a pointless glorified bit of concrete, well done 👍

Perhaps you want to encourage people to stop driving by making it as dangerous as possible for the sake of the environment? Or perhaps technology companies are lobbying the government to accept surveillance cars with no driver control? The only other reason I can think for removing the hard shoulder is that the people implementing these ideas are complete fools.

everything in this video is a lie, I do have the proof to back this up, national highways put lives at risk every day to save on contract costs, sadly in our case this is OUR children's lives put at risk deliberately
@1spencergarner15 күн бұрын
national highways are not fit to tarmac driveways, they are cowboy contractors nothing more

Martin Fellows, and del from sisk, where are you hiding?, come and see the danger YOU put our children's lives in every day, the reason you do this is to save money on the contract and completion time, that is what you think the value is of our childrens lives, no words can describe you people,

Make sure people’s jobs are safe and don’t rock the boat (country) in the process…:if that takes you to 2070 or 2080 so be it…..better than turning people completely off to the climate problem, which will happen if its forced suddenly or too early

Martin Fellows, Regional Director. national highways, Children's lives are at risk because of your actions, yet when people complain you do nothing and ban the complainer from complaining? why do you think it is ok to put children's lives at risk to make yourself look good ?? locals would love you to answer but you hide away and ban them from complaining

National highways have no right to talk about safety, they deliberately put lives at risk and refuse to do anything about it to save money and make sure the project is finished on time to make the directors look good, it children's lives you are putting in danger

This video really opened my eyes to the rich history behind Britain's railway system. It's incredible to think about how railways revolutionised transportation during the Industrial Revolution and shaped the landscape of the country. For those interested in delving deeper into the history of Britain's railways, this video offers valuable insights: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnqQdYp-lLqtm6c

As a part-time HGV driver I can testify that these 'Smart' motorways are potential death traps. Lorry's normally HAVE to go flat out at 56 MPH (speed governed, and where limits allow) to be able to make their drops to a very strict schedule. If not, the driver is sacked. At 56 MPH weighing above 35 tons it takes around +10 seconds to do an emergency stop at 56 MPH, on a gentle bend (much more if downhill, wet conditions etc). Breaking to hard, and the articulated HGV will simply jackknife and roll on its side, killing all in its path. You can ONLY see around 5-7 seconds ahead in the dark, especially on 'left hand' bends where the opposite lanes oncoming traffic dazzles the lane ahead. So do the maths, 56 MPH equates to around 10 seconds stopping time, minus 28% = 7.2 seconds stopping time total. 56 MPH - 28% = 40.3 MPH! To drive safely in the dark the HGV driver can either stick to the far left lane at 40 MPH and face the sack within the week, or reman in the second lane and be potentially fined? These 'smart' motorways have never been properly risk assessed by someone smart, or even having the intelligence of an HGV driver...
