Timbers fans as a whole are probably the only fans in MLS worthy of being compared to European ultras because their fanbase is the only organic one that also spans multiple generations. I live in Austin and our fans are deservedly considered some of the best in the league. However, despite getting loud and having a good home record, many of the fans in the supporters section haven’t been to enough games to know the songs and chants and many don’t sing at all. Nor have they been a fan long enough to realize the payoffs of winning big matches and trophies. They want to get drunk, see some goals, and party. It’s a fun Saturday plan. MLS fanbases simply need time to catch up to their international counterparts.

In sa chants are friendly, spontaneous and has a festival vibe. In europe chants are stronger, organized and has a more "war" vibe

As a European , it is nice to see something better in the US ... Portland Timbers are the best in there regardless of what i seen ... big steps by what i seen last years , keep it on 🙃

It's not even 30% of what you know or what you have shown about Europe , it's just the pike of the iceberg, so I don't think you were pretty honest , like , taking the side to a part ... but much appreciation for the South Americans . They are doing well 🙃

Finally! A European who shows actual footage of MLS Supporters. Many of us put in a Lot of time to create the Best Atmospheres possible. The Fans of Atlanta here took inspiration from the Bundesliga. Our diverse Fanbase in this League really created a Pallte to make many of these Atmosphere's a reality.

Glad that this shows the real US supporters and not the shitty ones. We have a long way to go, but the improvement over the past decade in our football culture is incredible, and many videos dont adequately highlight that.

In Europe one section creates an atmosphere. In South America the whole stadium creates an atmosphere.

As someone who’s a die hard orlando city fan MLS atmospheres have been rocking for a while now. It took time but we are starting to grasp football culture. MLS is the 2nd highest attended sport in the USA. We’ve come a long way from fight and win. The majority of mls atmospheres are really good. It’ll only get better each year

To be fair, they are different kinds of crowds. That's why I don't like comparing the two sports crowds. As a Duck fan, the atmosphere is amazing but you dont' have flares going off over your head with the stadium about to collapse undernearth you.

@@mrvroom188 I didn't say that didn't have passion. They just go about it in different ways. There are no marches from the pubs to the game. However tailgating is always great but one example of a big difference.

i think ppl don't realize the US have alot of restrictions on what supporters could exactly do during games. for example LAFC got fined 100k for having too many flares. nowhere near what Europe does but it shows what is rly holding us back

It's Hilarious that LAFC got fined for that, but a lot of MLS Advertising has fans from Several Clubs Lighting it up. No Pyro. No Party.

it is very clear that they are going towards south america fanbases. the drums have bigger meaning than pyro and voices of fans. you can hear all different sounds of drums but very little of pyro and singing.

As an Atlanta Season Ticket Holder, I remember the Supporters Leadership wanting to have a Bundesliga Atmosphere since a lot of us watch it here. I love Schalke. Some of the most Loyal Fans I've ever met.

Two factors here. The most popular sport in the US is a sit-down legs-up hot-dog-in-hand boring show that is baseball. On top of that you have nearly ALL fans driving themselves in their individual cars for a watered-down family show, with the exception of a handful of stadiums within the city grid (Boston, MSG). You will never ever have the ultras atmosphere at a Patriots game if the stadium is in the middle of the f*cking nowhere.

USA show good progress. Especially when theses fans go against their cultural way of living sports. Their own people made fun of them for many years but instead of disapearing they step up. Slowly, but they do. The funny things is : In some years i'm almost sure going to a football match will become more interesting than going to their NFL match where the ambiance is blend AF. Still, theses LGBT flags weaving in Europe that would be a mess. The ultra's code is clear about political / religious stuff. Once you step inside the stadium there's NO stuff like that.

Honestly European will win but we got in the USA We got "Houston dynamo Lafc Atlanta and la galaxy" Houston dynamo has more of a mexican culture and they do have fireworks and a bit of tifos and atlanta has a big ultras stands and lafc is a good ultras group theyre unique but Honestly Houston la fc la galexy and Atlanta are the ones to see

Not really actual Ultras/Barra Bravas though. Just for fun I went on to the list of LAFC groups and read about them. Supporter groups, yes. Ultras/Barra Bravas, no.

Hands down american fans are now way better than English fans. English fans are the worst at this point in time and they would never even in the 70s and 80s come close to intimidating Europe ultras. Ultras EU are made of steel, born to fight and live by a warriors code. I dont agree with the violence but one cannot deny that germany and eastwards they'd wipe the floor with anyone.
