20-25 mpg sounds low for these cars. With a stage 1 tune i average 30+mpg or about 375 miles per tank
@RyeGtiСағат бұрын
Yeah I was totally wrong, I just checked mine and it said 31 mpg. For some reason I thought I saw it at 22 one time

I used Castrol turbo diesel 5W40 in my 2014 7R. Runs perfectly and had no issues on the autobahn and nurburgring.

You're freaking me out washing that thing in the hot sun. My also white 7.5 will stay dirty before getting washed in those conditions. The water spots have to be compounded out. Big nope!

My continental extreme contacts have lasted 30 thousand miles. They improve the ride and handling so much. Highly recommend worth every penny.

Sounds good! Similar commute here so looking for a low-drone option, but I’ve got the 6-speed DSG so curious if the drone would be any different given the slightly different gearing 🤔

Hey Rye, we should be enable to add some burbles on sport mode, the R style launch and if you want, another 60hp safely.... at ZERO Cost. Contact for more info.

So you're following the manufacturer's recommendation on oil viscosity but anything else like oil change interval? At least your logic is sound.
@RyeGti10 күн бұрын
I have a bit of a heavy foot sometimes so I tend to lean towards doing a shorter interval rather than what’s recommended.

@RyeGti19 күн бұрын
Thanks man, glad to see it was helpful! Oil changes aren’t too bad, but I get it for sure. Just get comfortable with the process and don’t overdo it on tightening stuff.
@SalvatoreMalena20 күн бұрын
The engine is basically the same as 2018 model. Imho 2019 model requires 0w20 only for low emissions and better fuel consumption. If i were you, i would use 5w30.
@RyeGti19 күн бұрын
Is it really that similar tho? Seems like they would’ve had to switch it up to be able to run the 0w20 at least
@lmmaccount123215 күн бұрын
@@RyeGti I use 10-40w synthetic on my MK6 GTi stage 2, no issues. It passes visual and tailpipe emissions. I do change the oil every 3-4k miles, and the oil filter every 6k, so the oil filter every other oil change.
@Jbrewer2124 күн бұрын
Enjoyed this! one thing I’ve noticed since getting the recall done on my mk7 is the increase in gas mileage have you noticed it yourself?
@RyeGti23 күн бұрын
It seems like a very slight change, but it might’ve also had to do with the oil weight I was using previously too. Maybe both
@MDC2222Ай бұрын
Happened to my MK5 way back in 2010ish, 8000 fuel pumps on back order at that time for 8 months. No recall, no vehicle loaner, it was horrible. At least they recall the part now.

thanks dude! That does sound terrible tho, I'm very glad that it was relatively easy getting it done for the mk7.
@MDC2222Ай бұрын
@@RyeGti Me too, they owned up to it which is great. I bought an MK8 recently which after all that with the MK5 is a statement as to how great these cars are even with the odd issues.

Sounds good. I see that you live in NV, so you must have left the cat in place because cars in NV get smogged every year.
@RyeGtiАй бұрын
I believe they only require it in Vegas and Reno, pretty sure all the other counties don’t smog or care about it. I’ll most likely be sticking to a cat regardless tho since this is my daily driver

It’s a VW. Drive it for 4 wks and most of the oil will be dripped or burned off. Then you just need to change the filter! I have one!

I used a fluid extractor on my MK7. Makes changing oil a breeze. No drain, no drain bolt, no dirty pan, no spills.
@RyeGtiАй бұрын
How does it do with getting all the oil out? I feel like I’ve heard varying opinions on them. Reminds me of how easy my drain valve was on my old car though but I couldn’t find any kind of drain valve unless it was the metal pan swap on the mk7
@@RyeGti Looks like KZbin did not like my link I posted earlier. Shop Dap did a video on oil extractors. After using an extractor they removed the oil drain plug and nothing came out. Use an extractor with confidence then ask yourself why you did not buy one sooner.
