What Weight Oil Should You Use in Your 2019+ VW MK7 GTI?

I used Castrol turbo diesel 5W40 in my 2014 7R. Runs perfectly and had no issues on the autobahn and nurburgring.

The engine is basically the same as 2018 model. Imho 2019 model requires 0w20 only for low emissions and better fuel consumption. If i were you, i would use 5w30.

Is it really that similar tho? Seems like they would’ve had to switch it up to be able to run the 0w20 at least

​​@@RyeGti I use 10-40w synthetic on my MK6 GTi stage 2, no issues. It passes visual and tailpipe emissions. I do change the oil every 3-4k miles, and the oil filter every 6k, so the oil filter every other oil change.

So you're following the manufacturer's recommendation on oil viscosity but anything else like oil change interval? At least your logic is sound.

I have a bit of a heavy foot sometimes so I tend to lean towards doing a shorter interval rather than what’s recommended.
