I’m pretty late to the Steven Universe series, but I just finished Future. I definitely get the frustration, but since I’m a late viewer I went into this knowing it was supposed to be an epilogue. Thinking about it in hindsight, I feel like the writers only had a set number of episodes to tie up loose ends after the universe is saved. So I didn’t really have any high expectations, I just took it for what it was. Your frustrations are definitely valid, but I feel like the season did pretty okay as an epilogue. The plot felt simple enough to me: you catch up on what the characters have been up to, you see old familiar faces, and the main character struggles through an inner turmoil of a savior complex. It’s just my opinion though

Steven's new powers didn't come out of nowhere though, Pink Diamond always had destructive powers but then stopped using it because of an accident.

it bogles my mind that a show which is supposed to be as deep as steven universe has crap like this yet dragon ball gt of all things can have both the baby and shadow dragon arcs which while both flawed managed to actually take into acout the actions of the main cast and produce genuine consequences for there actions which require actual effort on behalf of the main cast to fix and leaves that timeline permenitly scared at any rate TL:DR how did the writers of SU allow dragon ball to be deeper than there show

i feel like this video is almost intentionally being dense for the sake of something to dog on. you can’t say that there isn’t an overarching plot and then proceed to point out every piece of setup in the first 10 episodes that show how insecure and afraid of change Steven has become once he realizes he’s been focusing on helping others for his entire life. the story is about Steven learning to cope with the fact that he has been proven to not be his mother and that he now needs to find out who he is without the problems she left behind.

During whole season 6 i was crying. I was seeing a depressed Steven and thinking about my life decisions, about my empty future, about my lack of self understanding... I live a whole life through this character and maybe that season isn't as good as previous, but it still gives me feeling of comfort and understanding. I can skip some episodes and still enjoy the story. Just saying that it's not that bad...

I think you're missing that Steven is having adolescence problems, he's temperamental, inconsistent and contradictory. Since gems are born adults this is new territory for everyone because teenagers go on a rampage of not learning from their mistakes for years. However its evident that this show was rushed and the idea of the human part of Steven becoming the threat should have been explored and executed better

I just know your going to say that Rebecca sugar, the creator if Steven universe. Rebecca sugar and "there" husband are both non binary and part of LGBTQ+

The only reason this feels like filler is because your looking at in the way you would look at the first show, your problem is that now he established peace with almost everyone you can imagine not much will be happening and in the end its just to show whats happening in his future rather than have a huge plot like the first show

To be fair dude yes you're allowed to be petty you can't avoid petty feelings and this whole season could be great if it didn't feel like the whole I don't know what to do and the i just go insane arc didn't feel so different and yes spinel could had solve this whole season problem but the biggest flaw is having a message of letting your love ones help you just to have Steven leave away of his family

Steven was corrupted so when white diamond went inside his head and said that that is not him anymore she saw he was corrupted and his consciousness wasn't there and at that moment when they gave Steven a group hug he was realizing that he wasn't alone remember she called himself a fraud a monster he thought he had to do this alone that he had to fix it all Edit: just a sidenote but I don't think that was a beard I think that was dirt or something

One of my biggest problems with this show was how they treated Greg’s backstory. Remember how his cousin Andy acted when we first met him? Judgemental, prejudiced, and hateful towards change. Now imagine what Greg’s parents and older relatives must have been like. Greg’s parents seem like the kind of folk to raise their kid as an ornament and not care very much for their wants and their aspirations. Also note that Greg sent them plenty of letters, but _none of them_ were even opened. Greg said that he had to hide all of his stuff as a kid. You shouldn’t _have_ to hide anything from your parents, especially something like your interests and passions. Not only that, but Greg also got used to entering and exiting the house via his bedroom window, probably in order to avoid his parents. Now I know that he wasn’t a paramount parent, living in a van and raising a half-alien kid all on his own (until the gems came into the picture) but I wouldn’t call him negligent. He even offered at one point to send Steven to school with his newfound money, but Steven said he was with the gems all the time. And I can easily understand the complications with doctor’s visits. But dammit, I will defend Greg Universe with my life. While Steven had a much less than typical childhood, I wouldn’t blame his father for his trauma. But instead of giving us a simple filler episode with insight as to what it was like for Greg growing up and the reason why he left in the first place, they just made it another thing for Steven to stress and have an outburst over.
