I have a 94 K2500 454 BBC. It was running great then all of a sudden one day it started having problems accelerating with some lag and it would take forever to shift and when it did it would jerk pretty hard. Took it to a mechanic and they brought up a code for the TPS and wanted to charge me $190 to do it. My mind was blown because of how easy of a job it is, so I bought one from O’Reillys and replaced it myself. Read the owners manual for my truck and it pretty much just says it’s a plug and play, no calibrating or anything. But I’m still having issues ! Same issues… idk what I did wrong or didn’t do. It was a simple electrical connector and two torque screws.. Anybody have a clue??

I was fortunate enough to met Conrad personally. He only lives 1hr.20mins. from my house. Very nice guy, but so far I'm into about 5-6 hrs. cutting. Just like Anton said. Yes, some may say, take off the entire primary might be just as easy. If your shifter is that worn out & can turn .....lucky you...not mine. I won't lie...its' a bi*** cutting those original solid Steel shifter levers. Wildman RG3

Truly, a great video. Including the tip on how to modify a shitty TPS was rad. Rearranging the acronyms, (of which there are way too many!!) and calling the throttle cable the ‘bell housing’ added some much welcomed comedy to an otherwise ultra frustrating mf pos old-meets-new tech, ShitShow of GM mashup engineering ass-hattery. And after hours of reading others issues, with so many different, but sorta similar fixes…dammit. I know I’m not alone, and it gives me zero comfort…

Yuuup.. those eBay cheap parts are a complete waste of time! 2 for 2 bad parts, on a van motor cost me about 4 hours of extra time and frustration. So not worth it

did you have surging or rough idle with the bad tps??

yup, that's the one...! ever seen one of these TPS units dump fuel, on to a hot manifold...? it was either that or the air idle control valve... but ya... not a fun time...!

no, but it sounds like a car fire potential. do you mean on a running engine or with engine off? Fuel injectors limit fuel from spraying.

I know that this is a very old vid ... and the poster has not been active in a very long time ... but ... there is something, a device?, on the receiver just behind the barrel nut. It can be fairly clearly seen @5:17 I've never seen anything like on on any other AR-7's but it's on all of the Bricklee/Israeli variants. Could it be a pal-nut to tighten against the barrel nut to prevent it from loosening as all AR-7's seem to do?

Did you do an IAC reset when you reinstalled the TBI? Disconnect battery to clear codes, reconnect battery, jump A&B on ALDL connector, turn key on for 30 seconds or so, turn key off, remove jumper from ALDL connector. What happens when you do this is the IAC pintle will extend full-closed and stay there until you turn the key off. At that point the ECM assumes it's closed and has a reference point for any commands it sends to it from there on out. Good video thanks ,I just fixed my truck runs great now . kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3Onhqh-mKmkjZY

I don't know what plastic piece you are talking about, um its your belt! It is so tight in there, I have a better lever on the way as have same problem, however space limitations on cutting that off is so tight! I probably would rather take off primary, but am considering using the dremel with drill bit put a collar so it doesn't go too deep. Its my best thought as a wrench, in a limited space better lever easy to find on net, great product! Beats replacement of trans shifter shaft, but damn its a tight spot to dremel, gl all

Quality is definitely better than anything that you can buy today. I have to question that it is from the 60's. Barrel has a two letter abbreviation for California. That kind of abbreviation became standard in the late 70's. My guess would be 70's or 80's

I hope this is my problem, im sick of these erratic idle problems.. surges, the levels out, then high idle, then levels out , then surging . ive replaced the IAC, rebuilt throttle body replaced TPS , replace coolant temp sensor, checked for vacuum leaks, set base timing, im running out of things to check. .. how can u tell if the tps is adjustable.. mine has the oval shaped plug, not the round one
