Thanks for a fantastic flyover of Destin! Sure brought back lots of memories of my work at Eglin AFB back in the early 90s during the Gulf war. Spent most of my evenings at Sammy's and at Fishhead clubs, and fishing on the Okaloosa Island pier. Good times for sure!

Recalls plenty of my flying days based outta MGM in everything from a C-150 to a Beech Baron dodging Gulf Coast sea breeze fronts. And traveling to OSH EAA (well actually ATW) in the Baron was always a thrill!

It was great to see my little town in your video. During the late 60’s and early 70’s, I called Fort Walton Beach my home. In 1974, I enlisted into the Navy and after training, I was stationed in Jacksonville. If I didn’t make the Navy a career, I probably would have moved back to FWB. But did make the Navy a career and started a family in Jacksonville. Thanks again for giving this old sailor a glimpse of his old hometown. Now please take the video down because anyone who sees this Emerald Coast will want to move here! Just kidding…. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent video, thanks. I haven’t flown into KDTS yet and didn’t know what to expect with it being surrounded by so much military. This video is a great explanation. Looks pretty standard.
@planeplaces3 күн бұрын
Yes. Consider the north transition which isn’t in the video is like a class b that requires clearance and the east west is like a class c. Leaving Destin clearance delivery very similar to a class c airport. FAA has a good online training that you can do that grants wings credit

How well did your cooler do? I've got a 260B and I'm curious about the Icy Breeze.
@planeplaces4 күн бұрын
Happy so far. for OSH we used it mostly as a cooler and it held ice for 3-4 days which is great. We've used it two times in 90F Florida heat and while it can't cool the entire cabin it does make a big difference blowing on you. More tests this month in extreme heat and I still need to try running it for 30 minutes during preflight before pulling out of the hangar to see how well it can cool.

Love the video, nice when someone is willing to take the time and post. Comanche is nice plane, my favorite actually. I try and make every landing my best, No flap, some or all, it's the same, hold it off about 2 inches until it is stalling, yoke and trim full aft (about) and suddenly you are on the ground.

Thank you for that very nostalgic journey. This flight is remarkable. From when I was a playing pop guns in the early seventies in Ft Pickens. To the " leave nothing but footprints" ideas as I grew up. My Granpa flying up me from Ferguson in his Mooney. Yep I know this field whent it was grass. Years later. During High school years, the foolishness we carried out past, what is now Portofino, was just plain drinking and girls. This video brings back many memories. Some fond, some very harsh. I served in both the Destin Fire Control District and Escambia County Fire Rescue, station 13 is a remarkable remeberace of years served. And Sation 10 on Crystal Breach Rd, Destin, what could have been. Hurricanes of the 90s and 20s and continued calls for help. For urgent and emergent water rescues are shown on this video, pinpoints of each need for help. Fires and medical calls. "Waypoints" I want to forget in some, but few. But in most circumstances I'm grateful I can remember. Your flight reminded me all of these thoughts. Too many until I saw this. Thank you.
