@NarcoATS3 күн бұрын
Blightrot isn't so bad as long as you have a sustainable source of coal, sea marrow, or oil. Just put one villager in the blight post to produce purging fire at all times until you have what you need for the next storm. Don't forget to put three villagers in the blight post before the storm, at the end of clearance. Also, no more than 15 cysts per blight post. If you exceed that number, I advise you to build another blight post.

Congrats on the year 3 finish! I've been playing in P15 for now and learned a lot from your video. Thanks! I'm surprised how you prioritized rainpunk over specialized housing. Do you usually do it this way or did you do it because of the alarm bells?
@NarcoATS4 күн бұрын
Thanks! I always build a lot of rainpunk engines. I put them in almost every production building because I want my production to be as optimized as possible. I rarely use them to increase the resolve of my species, though. Usually, I only use them this way for a little resolve push to get into the 'blue zone.' But here, it was special because I had to be very fast to secure a Year 3 win. I didn't have the time or the building materials to construct specialized houses.
@krystol04 күн бұрын
Wow! Amazing run. Congratulations on 3 year win!
@Beanface144 күн бұрын
Very impressive. I've never seen a triple yield before, so if your chance at a double yield exceeds 100% you get a chance at a triple yield? Also I never realised that, once you're in the blue, higher resolve leads to more points per minute. I always thought the only thing that mattered was to get it to blue and that it scaled on the basis of population. But now I realise it scales on both population and resolve points. Very educational, thank you
@NarcoATS4 күн бұрын
Yes, the reputation gained per minute also scales on resolve points indeed! I have made a tutorial about resolve and decadence where this information is explained: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5ich3V6fsiJlcU You're right about the yields!

Lol pretty insane that you got the hidden Speedrun deed without even planning for it. Didn't even use any bonus embarkation points. Some notes/questions based on the video: 1. Do you never allow bait in fishing huts? I thought it was bad, but someone on the subreddit did some maths and its actually very efficient. Especially since you had +2 on the packs of crops and +1 on scales. Though I guess it would be overkill to have 400 scales and 200 fish. 2. Do you ever choose higher cost expedition for better loot? I think the costs are changed now in 1.5 update, so maybe this question is irrelevent in the new patch. 3. I'm surprised you dislike tools so much that you sell them all. This game you had so many orders that gave you 10+ tools. Could have opened the forbidden glade in Y3 clearance and sent 2 caches for approx. +1.5 reputation. Though this is obviously hindsight and you managed a P20 Y3 just fine without tools. Everytime I watch one of your videos it gives me something to add to my game. Perhaps I overvalue tools and should just focus on resolve. Merci beaucoup! See you next year :D
@NarcoATS5 күн бұрын
Hello! Thank you! 1. I considered producing packs of crops to use fishing bait at some point, but I felt the investment wasn't necessary. I had three ponds and +1 Scales. I told myself these resources would be enough to finish the game. Maybe I should try to use some bait though. 2. I have only played two Coastal Grove games so far, and for now, I haven’t increased the cost of an expedition, simply because it increases the time it takes to complete. 3. Actually, I think I should have used tools for the ale/wheat cache instead of opening it. Those 30 wheat didn’t make any difference. But opening a dangerous or forbidden glade specifically to send caches to the citadel isn’t something I enjoy that much-it just feels... messy. Yeah, I know, it’s a silly reason, haha.
@natriumon84875 күн бұрын
@@NarcoATS Haha, there are no silly reasons in a singleplayer game! Just play however you enjoy it. I feel the same about attacking traders for example. It feels terrible, even though it makes sense to do in your last year.
@NarcoATS5 күн бұрын
@@natriumon8487 Haha same! I have to confess 3 things: I have never attacked a trader. I have never used forsaken altar. I have never opened a forbidden glade... Also, I don't like calling traders just to increase impatience. I finished this game with zero impatience.

Great video, I learned a lot! As a relatively new player, I am curious as to why you don't go for Hearth 2 upgrade earlier? The 10% production bonus seems like a huge perk that is worth prioritizing once you have enough population.
@NarcoATS10 күн бұрын
Hey thank you! The reason is simple: planks. I need 8 planks to make the garden for Hearth 2, so I only go for this when I have built everything that I really needed first with my planks. It's more important to build a mine or a production building that can produce important needs to boost my species' resolve than to increase the production speed by only 10%.

Love watching these vids. The conventional wisdom is people recommending to wait to the beginning of year 2 to open a dangerous glade. I've seen some of your vids do that and others you open a dangerous glade immediately like this one. Can you go into more details on when you decide to open your first dangerous glade?
@NarcoATS25 күн бұрын
Thank you! Well, it depends on several factors. When I have to choose between a camp/farm and another interesting blueprint, I sometimes open a dangerous glade to see whether I should choose the camp/farm or not. This is particularly true if there’s another blueprint to choose after this one. There are cases where opening the glade right away can be beneficial. For example, in my second video, I opened a dangerous glade because I knew there was fertile soil inside and I already had a farm (an herb garden, in that case). Opening the glade allowed me to start gathering herbs in Year 1. Usually, I prefer opening a dangerous glade if I’ve chosen the Amber embarkation bonus, because it allows me to call the trader if I need resources to resolve the dangerous event. This was the case in my Coastal Grove game, for example. I bought bricks from the trader to resolve the event. There’s no definite rule, though. It really depends on the context. If I already have a lot to do in my first glade (because I got a nice complex food building right away, for instance), I would delay opening the next glade until the start of Year 2.
