Excellente video comme d'hab :) Quick question - how do you prioritize ingredients in the recipes (as you did with salt vs insect I believe early on)?
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 12 сағат бұрын
Merci ! Regarding ingredients, I try to think in terms of 'one ingredient for one product.' For example, I know I need grain for both oil and eggs, so there's no way I’d use grain elsewhere. I also know I'll need scales for dye, so I don’t use scales for incense-I use herbs instead. I like having this kind of clear pattern in my head: Grain → Oil and Eggs Herbs → Incense Meat → Jerky Mushrooms → Pickled Goods and Wine Scales → Dye Leather → Coats and Scrolls After that, it's all about 'feeling' whether I have enough resources for two products or just one. Sometimes, I even save a resource because I know it might be useful later for something I’m not producing yet. For example, I saved insects for the entire game in case I needed them for jerky or skewers at some point...

No way you didn't buy the loot boxes from Dullahan. I'll go completely broke just for the dopamine hit :D They're usually pretty decent too, though he didn't offer the expensive one. Surprised you didn't reroll any of those blueprints. The game just kept shoving the same buildings down your throat xD. 10 ambers is not too high a price for more choice of blueprint imo
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 13 сағат бұрын
At the start, I didn't reroll because I wanted to keep my amber to buy pipes, and I think it was the right call. I feel it's hard to reroll during the first two years, because amber is so precious then. Then, the buildings I got after that point were all useful. Alchemist's Hut gave me crystallized dew (and thus more pipes). Teahouse gave me waterskins and a better incense recipe (since Harpies are efficient inside this building)... I think I would have rerolled at the end, but I got two very nice blueprints (Temple and Forum) which both sealed the deal!

Hi, I have three observations: 1) I think the optimal way to produce oil, would be turning wheat in ranch to get meat, and then using meat for oil. 2) as you didn't sacrifice anything, assigning three people to the temple is an overkill. As far as I know, you want full crew only for the special effect. 3) You could build more roads, especially to the obelisks glades in bottom left and top right. They're free and give something to do for your builders. PS. I love your gameplays; opening dangerous glade straight away, and starting with rainwater collector is some unusual strategy for me!
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS Күн бұрын
Hello! 1. I don't really agree. I couldn't turn wheat into meat in the ranch because I needed to produce eggs almost all the time for my paste production (the yield for eggs is better than the yield for meat). Also, I had enough wheat to produce both oil and eggs directly from it. There was no need to waste time and labor making meat just to save little wheat that I didn't need to save. 2. You're right, it was just a bad reflex on my part. I think it didn't really change much though, since I didn't have anything left to build at that time. 3. You're right, but my builders were almost always needed elsewhere, and road tiles that you rarely use in the game have almost no effect at all. It wouldn't have changed anything in the end. There are some things I don't do, like building certain roads, because I know they have almost no effect in the long run! Thank you for your comments!

For me, the real mistake I made in this game was piping the field kitchen too early. I should have waited for the next blueprint choice before piping it and starting the paste production. It worked in the end, but if I had waited 20 more seconds, I would have built the rain mill instead and piped that. Then, I would have been able to use a better paste recipe throughout the entire game.

Love the videos, you have taught me a lot! One small miss - you could have taken the timed trade order if you had just checked the trade routes and in fact you immediately traded enough vegetables to meet the order demands.
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 3 күн бұрын
You’re right, I could have checked the proposed trade routes at that moment! But I think it’s also because I was convinced I wanted the regular order instead of the timed order anyway. Like I said just before picking the regular order, gaining two more villagers and 10 amber was actually better than the timed order rewards. To be honest, more people is almost the best reward that you can hope for at the start of the game!

I'm impressed with how little wood you seem to go through. I'm still pretty new, but I find that basically end up deforesting the map and still come up short (and constantly high hostitilty, which messes with resolve). Idk if thats just because i don't uave many citidel upgrades yet. Best AGS content out there imo. Keep it up!
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 3 күн бұрын
Maybe it’s because you don’t have an alternative source of fuel? Wood is very inefficient in the hearth or for recipes like jerky, incense, or purging fire. Coal, sea marrow, or oil are much more efficient options for those. Once I find a reliable way to produce one of these three fuels, I only use wood for planks and buildings.

12:15 herb garden already makes roots 😂 herb garden is my fav farm because it can supply all the raw ingredients for biscuits
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 3 күн бұрын
Roots don't yield as much as herbs in the herb garden, so I don't even consider growing them there (unless I have a production bonus for them). I know I can get way more herbs than roots, and since I needed herbs in this game, there was no point in growing roots in the herb garden. It's the same with the small farm, which I almost never use for vegetables!

6 impatience at the start should be a buff not a negative effect
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 11 күн бұрын
For advanced players, starting with 6 impatience is definitely a buff, not a negative effect. It can be tricky for beginners, though. Similarly, longer storms are also a buff for veterans, in my opinion.
@etcher6841
@etcher6841 11 күн бұрын
@NarcoATS longer storms, really? I don't see why, could you explain?
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 11 күн бұрын
For advanced players, managing hostility during the storm is rarely a problem, so the storm itself doesn't pose any particular danger. Slightly longer storms allow for continued city development while delaying the arrival of a new year, which increases the hostility level. Also, the more I play the game, the better I get at maintaining high resolve during some storms, which helps me keep gaining reputation. From my experience, when all these factors are combined, longer storms give a better chance of finishing the game earlier, for example in Year 4 rather than Year 5.

question. should we crack open the first dangerous glave in drizzle 1 or storm1/drizzle 2? I see both being done.
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 17 күн бұрын
It really depends on the context, but nowadays, I mostly open one in Drizzle 1. Everything is faster from there, and I have more information (resources, caches' content, etc.) to make better choices afterwards. But I would advise you to take the Amber embarkation bonus to do it. This way, you can call a trader and buy the items you lack for the dangerous event (if you lack any).

My city is only lvl 10. I just got the second seal now. I love this "quick win" strategy. Is it viable at low levels? For example, my humans can't see where there are hidden fields etc.
@NarcoATS
@NarcoATS 18 күн бұрын
You can't do everything yet, of course. You need important upgrades like the rainpunk engines, but the logic of the strategy remains the same: trying to gain as much reputation as possible at all times by fulfilling orders and increasing your species' resolve. If you are interested, I posted a tutorial about resolve and reputation on my channel.

Welcome back! I've been spamming Ashen Thicket in my current adamantine seal cycle and most of my cornerstones were so mediocre 😅 In the last game I didn't even find a mine until year 3, at which point I was already close to winning. If I find coal I will try for at least one cornerstone, but for copper/salt I will probably ignore it unless the cornerstone is gamebreaking. Your channel is such a great example of how to make gameplay videos of a slower game like Against the Storm. Long enough for me to understand your choices and to see the progress of the settlement. But not so long that it overstays its welcome and becomes boring. You've inspired me to start start recording some of my own games once I get more used to P20 difficulty.
