Where did you go? I see your web site is gone too.

Hello. Still here. Haven't painted in nearly 18 months and yet. Weirdly I sold 2 canvases this Christmas. It has given me a little confidence to try again. This video was from the last plein air painting I did. I just can't find the energy to start again. The website was expensive and I couldn't afford it.

Well done. Half the challenge is actually painting outside and the other half is figuring out what to paint. My French easel always collapses on me, so I have got a completely different set up now.

Absolutely. I believe in learning via the how not to approach generating a positive response. . It seems to be working 😂

i do what some do and rarely clean my brushes, using some for light colors and some dark, wipe clean w paper towel and tip in safflour oil with a few drops of CLOVE OIL...i've heard students taught covering the brush with saliva...
@lewisartuk Жыл бұрын
Great tips Lisa. I think I will leave the saliva bit!

I've seen them where the legs extend like a tripod, open latch and slide out and lock, which is SO much easier than these NUTS & BOLTS!

Great video for me to see. Just planning a similar trip for this weekend. Drawn loads, never painted. It could be messy!! I’m just going to get stuck in and keep it simple. That self conscious feeling is what I feel most nervous about.

Nice little painting. I use a french easel indoors but being old and knackered I think it would be a bit heavy for me to carry now. I have bought a little pochade box which holds 12x10 inch panels and I can screw it onto a telescopic camera rest or sit down and use it on my lap. All I need now is the courage to actually get out and do it.

Go for it. Find a quite spot with less people about first. Build your confidence. Let me know how it goes

As far as I can tell, that little ridge on the top is so that if you have a longer length of canvas, you can get it into the inside edge and lever it against the strainer to get a perfectly sharp sharp edge and consistent tension.

You must have a magic wand in that 'studio'. That tree painting by your friend needs to get the magic wand treatment too....lol Enjoyed watching your posting, 1st time here. 👍

Thanks. No magic wand just a little bit more time and less faffing about with the camera. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😁

Definitely upside down Robin - the metal edge on the pliers goes against the wooden bar and gives you the leverage. Hope you have worked this out since your video 😀
@AndrewBarrowmanArt2 жыл бұрын
If it's any consolation - my canvas pliers don't have a spring so I have to keep opening them up with my fingers that often get pinched soon after! 😂

I quite like this longer form vid as a way to mix things up a bit. The final piece turned out nice. I tried watching the original, but at the time I was in bed sick with covid so I couldn't stay awake for it. I haven't been able to paint in a while now and am eager to get back to it. I am struggling to find a subject though. I am considering going back to your vid with the stone bridge and pulling a screenshot to use as a reference. I remember when I first watched that vid, there was a shot when you first got to the area that really caught my attention.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell with Covid. I hope you atr on the mend. Most definitely screen shot from videos. It's a shame I can't see the end result as it would be fascinating to see what people take away from my videos. Thanks as always for your support. I hope you are on the mend 🙏🏻👍🏻
