Being 'euthanized' by CO2 is a HORRIFIC way to die. Suffocating with incredibly painful and distressing gasps - trying to breath. Try it under controlled circumstances (Michael Portillo for the BBC) It's absolutely horrific and totally distressing for the animals being killed.

Personally, I think any slaughter of any animal for any reason other than an animal hunting another animal to feed itself or its own is wrong. I think gassing them or killing them as humanely as possible is wrong. I know that these rodents are meant to be food, and like cow, pig, sheep or any 'farm' animal for that matter are all killed for us or our benefit, but I still think its wrong. I think in the long term, we shouldn't have any predatory or primarily predatory animal if it means that we have to mass kill in order to feed it. It should hunt like its instincts designed it to, not feed them and play with them.

I understand needing to raise them as food but why can't you keep each gender in one large area/cage and try to enrich their lives just a little, so they can at least move around and explore and see some light before being killed. I don't get why the tiny cruel tupperware is so necessary, and it actually sounds harder to clean all those hundreds of containers.

you gotta love hypocritical 'rat people' who come knowingly onto a reptile breeders site and gripe. So it's okay to slaughter a cow/pig/chicken/sheep in order to feed you for a day, when you have alternative food options, but it's not okay to humanely euthanize a rodent to feed a snake for a week, when that's the ONLY food it can eat? Riight... unless you're a staunch vegan, youre a hypocrite and kindly STFU. I just cant understand this logic. So raising a rodent in a setup that is similar (and arguably better even) than what they'd experience in the wild, then giving them a more peaceful death than even people are allowed by law... That is more cruel to you than letting another animal (snake) slowly and painfully starve to death? Basically you're saying, 'it's morally acceptable to me that the animal you love suffers and dies a painful slow death, so long as the cute fuzzy animal I like gets to live in the anthropomorphized conditions that I want it to." is that really your concept of morality? The truth of the matter is snakes eat rodents, and that's not going to change. period. Birds of prey also eat rodents, yet you don't see rat people freaking out on every KZbin video featuring a cute fuzzy owl baby now do you? gee wonder why that is (rolls eyes)... please get over yourselves.

Most of us are okay with the idea that snakes are going to eat these rats. What is troublesome is the terrible conditions they are forced to live in until then. These small dirty bins devoid of any stimulation is not similar or better than how they live in the wild.

Poor poor animals. So torturous boring life in these tiny cages with barely any place to walk. Rats which are eaten by snakes fast are much more lucky
8 жыл бұрын
Trust me those rats don't care, they are feed good, and are safe in there. Better odds than in nature. Sure some become snake food, but those breeders aren't complaining any.
@Liza5646

+Jeremy Hall Obviously i won`t trust you as you say a real bullshit. I have rats at home and i see how they torture in my very big cage (biting door at cage, running like crazy near it, jumping on it when i pass etc) when i don`t release them during day because they are very smart(one of the smartest animals, it is not a hamster) and active animals, they need to explore.Those which become snake food are more happy as at least they die fast and they have less long torture. It is like living in prison during your entire life, i would prefer to die instea, tho prison is much beter as it is much bigger. Would you want to live your entire life in avery safe 6 meters room??
@bloodandsilver3440
@bloodandsilver3440 8 жыл бұрын
+Jeremy Hall actually they do care. they will get very depressed and bored if they don't have space to move and play, cage or wood to climb plus toys to chew etc. but it doesn't really matter as their getting fed to a snake anyway. breeding such mass numbers it makes sense to keep things simple and straightforward

Laetitia Van Zyl The proper way to breed them is to put a male in a cage with a female. Do you think you stumbled on to something groundbreaking by telling her you know how to breed them, they know how to breed themselves. I swear, the morons you see online is limitless... How the FUCK are they breathing right? Rats are SOCIAL CREATURES and they are WONDERFUL pets...did youknow that they are MORE INTELLIGENT then a DOG ? No I bet you didnt know that. They also NEED to have PROPER VENTILATION ...not living their precious little lives in a cramped up tub. And did I hear that right? YOUR GASSING them? What the FUCK is wrong with you people???This is ANIMAL CRUELTY and something needs to be done about this....and the way you just make a video of it like its "okay" and youre running a "business" . Your fucking MENTAL, and I'll say it like I always have..."MAY GOD RESERVE THE HOTTEST PART OF HELL FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND YOUIR 'business associates' who seem to think that its fine and theres nothing wrong with what u r doing....who GAVE ANY of YOU the "right'" to think you can take a helpless intelligent creature and breed them for TORTURE and DEATH.
@MassModzz
@MassModzz 9 жыл бұрын
You must be misunderstanding the concept of the food chain... The less intelligent creatures become food for something else. It has been that way (by natures design) since the beginning of time. I am sure they understand that animals need to breathe to live, isn't it obvious that they maybe, just maybe selling frozen rats as FOOD for customers snakes or other animal food or are you too ignorant to notice that? I can say for one that they are doing a fantastic job caring for the rats up until they are gassed. Gassing them is the most humane way to put them down, unless you prefer they get the life squeezed out of them by snakes, or cracking their head on the floor to stun them. And bringing hell in to this is just absolutely asinine... So every person that eats meat must be going to hell, why not the snakes too since they are carnivorous... You really need to pull your head out of your ass, idiot.

DOESNT MATTER....I OWN PET RATS AND THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST "SNAKE FOOD" . If a snake catches a wild rat in the wild....then...ok...i fully understand the food chain. But I will NEVER UNDERSTAND NOR WILL I EVER AGREE with ANYONE who purchases a helpless , precious , little creature qand puts it in a snake tank where it has no ability to run...or defend itself...or even have a chance to get away...so , honestly , fuck your "food chain"line of thought.

It's sad, but it's a reality. Other animals need to eat. That's why they're feeder rats and pet rats. Snakes should starve because rats are amazing? No, and if you say yes, you can't be the animal lover you claim. It's a sad reality, but it's reality. I say this as a owner of 3 beautiful pet rats!!

nordicbeauty373 If you have ever had McDonalds or Burger King then you are a hypocrite. Those cows didn't have a chance, just like a rat in the wild wouldn't. It doesn't matter if it's caged with the snake or in the wild, rats roam and when they cross the path of a snake there is no escape. I breed my mice and I wont kill the pinkies or the mother while they are nursing etc, because it would be a waste. While this may be cold and calculating they still get to live at least a little life if you even call it that. They breed, shit, fight, eat, and sleep. Everything else is coincidental. You know if YOU died in your living room with your mice/rats free they would eat your dead body, so they really aren't all that cute, they are like seagulls without wings. To each his own.
