Wonderfulhorsemanship and such fun to watch the relaxed but disciplined partnership they have accomplished by finding strengths and building the routine to show the focus and the ability of both parnters enjoying the arena as if here was no judging but just them! Having fun for fun sake, riding to see if they could do!

@2.23 - any horse walking on three tracks in British dressage would get zero points for the the walk. The walk in British dressage is x2 points in scoring as walk is the easiest gait to mess up. If a horse cannot walk in straight line the maybe get a career change as it is neither straight or through.

Love this but when they say "cowboy" I think of an entirely different discipline, which is Texas style riding. This here is closer to Vaquero style. It's still fantastic, either way.

Horsey pole dancing! I love it! I've watched dressage all my life. Once I had my own horses, i couldn't watch it anymore. Watching this was far more entertaining. Horse and rider were very relaxed. If I had to guess, I think this horse enjoyed his time in the arena.

That was extraordinary! Is that a Friesian horse? Really beautiful and excellent dressage moves!

This is so different than regular dressage. The transitions are so awkward. And the real movements are not executed anywhere near the way they are in real dressage. But it is very entertaining and some of these movements of course are very useful to cowboys out working Cattle.

This is what it's supposed to look like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXrMcoCLrpWsb5o keep practicing, especially your lateral work in the canter. Stop dropping into the trot. Just dragging a pole behind the horse isn't art.

Interesting… Comparatively speaking, the horses are quite different. But looking a both horses the buckskin is far more relaxed, where as the bay is very rigid. (Personally am not keen on that level of contact.) Whoever cowboy dressage has an emphasis on lightness? So they’re my be a conflict of styles… or perhaps more of inspiration? Regardless both where lovely! And will continue to develop!

I would rather be Jeff's horse for sure. Your link takes me to a horse that looks stressed and over controlled. Jeff's horse is relaxed and happy.. true partnership

I think comparing an Iberian horse to a Quarter Horse is like comparing apples and bananas. Also, a lot of those Spanish and Portuguese horses are trained with lots of force and in serretas and are very nervous. It is better to look how the horse is doing something and not what he is doing…

You missed a very important distinction between the two horses. Jeff’s horse is in the hackamore still the bay is straight up in the bridle. There’s 4-5 years of training difference between the two horses. Jeff’s horse is still in the first stage of becoming a bridle horse. He has the two rein to go into before going into the bridle as well. So his horse is still in the beginning of training.

I am sorry but your description is flawed. It is like reading just the right pages of a book, omitting left pages! The four beat description is only half of the story. The falling of the legs are the "beats", but the horse lifts the leg silently. This lifting is more important than falling, because rider can only influence the legs of the horse at the moment of lifting (or hundreds of a second before) but never when falling to the ground! Therefor one should speak of 8 phases in walk and not 4 beat. The 4 beat does, as you noted, tell an observer or judge, if the walk is even - i.e. each beat takes same space in time. (See german military rule book as well as german FN Rule book for riding)
