Again and again, 4:10 is an example, nail it NOW to push the car into the tarmac on that short slope and get a great exit.

Now this race I felt the passion. The car was hooking up and the corners looked much smoother. Chasing down cars is so much fun. Using lapped traffic as a pick is also pretty fun. Love the way you go past the car at the end. Great fun !

Oli, I enjoyed watching V8 power on Buttonwillow. But I think your car was struggling for rear traction. Either hard tires, tires that took a long time to get to temp or new un-cycled tires or your rear end is too stiff. Making it seem like your driving a Drift car., Its like you wanted to hold power through the turnie bits but the car wanted to step out each time. The one spot I kept yelling at the screen was turn 3 to 4. Its short for a quick upshift then back down or Rev limiter. I had the same issue in my Probe. Just do the upshift quicker and use the torque to pull you that much more. Then do the quick down shift. The next spot was the end of the snake( Essess) You let off and maintained for the last part of it. I keep my foot in it all the way through and down to the braking zone. Perhaps you didn't feel confident with the rear end being so twitchy. Was fun to watch one day I may find my way back out there.

You summed up the problem well. This was my fourth race weekend on the Spec Corvette race series spec tire, the 315 Nankang NS2R. The tires were on their 16th heat cycle and fourth race. They were done. The front passenger tire was peeling off rubber from the cord. That is why I was so light on the throttle exiting the Esses. The rear tires were toast, too. I didn't look at them, but I bet they were starting to peel like the front tire. The tires are competitive to three weekends and about 12 heat cycles. I just pushed them too far. They are clearly not as fast as Hoosiers, but to race the car in the Spec Corvette config, it has to run on the 200 treadwear street tire Nankangs. The Hoosiers are only good for one race, but the Spec Corvette would obliterate all the other cars on the track if I was allowed to run those.

It is a fairly standard SCCA GT2 Corvette build. Minimum weight is 3030 lbs with ZR1 six speed transmission and 355mm front rotors on AP six pistons. The engine is an LS2 block with LS3 heads. It is tuned for 110 octane fuel. The shocks are three way adjustable Penskes and Pfadt sway bars. The tires are Hoosiers A7, and they were used crap for this race. 315x18 front and 335x18 rear on Trackspec wheels, 11" and 12.5"

I don't have a video at this time to share. I forgot to mention the car was also running without the splitter, but with Trackspec hood vents and APR rear wing. We had problems with the splitter so I raced without it. It hurt laps times a bit....

If he had a little more finesse with the throttle through those dips and humps on the turns. That would shave those milliseconds off. But, WOW... The water through the turn like that is nuts! So sick to see you guys bomb it like that.

Interesting. G meter indicates that some corner grip available is not being used and, visually, there could be earlier acceleration application out of some corners, particularly those with favourable camber.

Hi Mike: I didn't download the 1:58 lap, I am sorry. But here is a 1:49 lap I did later in the day in my 3100 lb, 480 RWHP SCCA GT2 classed C5 Corvette. I know I have two plus seconds to improve in that car in that I had been racing the Spec Corvette on street tires all weekend. The grip levels and rate of acceleration on this car is much higher. I was still getting accustomed to the higher grip levels and different balance of the car when I caught lapped traffic on lap four. Up until then I was still taking time off of each lap. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKStZ3iKn7l0qck
