@@stalman This is comparing a Jeep to a Ferrari. Why compare them? Besides the decent but unremarkable Fuji lens, the "fun" thing is the simulated emulsions. [The lens doesn't resolve to the new sensor's capabilities (Same issues with XT-5 lenses); it is basically unchanged from the 100 V] They are fun if you want to wait a full second after each shot for them to write out to a card (yes, a fast card) and the only why to toy with them to get faster write speeds is to turn the "Clarity" setting to "0". This was true of my X-Pro 3 as well. Anyway, my new one with only 80 frames shot on it will be on eBay tomorrow at my list price + the eBay commission they charge added on. I hate the scalpers. PS: I am not a Leica fan boi. Those people are truly fanatical. PS: This describes the simulation delay and what to do to compromise to make it work (from Chat GPT 4.0) When using different film simulations with the Fuji X100 VI, you can still encounter long write-to-card storage delays. Here are some tips specific to managing film simulations to help reduce these delays: Use High-Speed SD Cards: As mentioned earlier, use high-speed SD cards, preferably UHS-II or at least UHS-I with high write speeds (V30, V60, or V90). Optimize Film Simulation Settings: Some film simulations might generate larger file sizes due to additional processing. Try experimenting with different film simulations to see if certain ones result in shorter write times. Use Smaller Image Sizes: If the delay is still an issue, consider reducing the image size or quality settings slightly. Even within film simulations, this can help manage file sizes and write times. Avoid RAW+JPEG: Shooting in RAW+JPEG with film simulations can significantly increase file sizes. Consider shooting in JPEG only if you want to utilize film simulations and reduce write times. Adjust In-Camera Processing: Reduce the level of in-camera processing for things like noise reduction, sharpness, and color adjustments. Lower processing settings can reduce the overall time it takes to write the file to the card. Use the Camera’s Continuous Low Mode: If you need to use burst shooting, try using the camera’s continuous low mode instead of high mode to manage the buffer more effectively. Custom Settings: Save custom settings for film simulations you use often. This can streamline the camera's processing, as it doesn't have to adjust settings from scratch each time you switch simulations. Batch Processing: If the delays are due to post-processing in-camera, consider taking photos without simulations and applying the simulations afterward in software like Fuji’s RAW File Converter, Lightroom, or Capture One. Implementing these strategies should help manage and reduce the write-to-card storage delays when using different film simulations on your Fuji X100 VI.

You mentioned the features the S9 didn’t have such as a mechanical shutter, no hot shoe and no flash built in but the one other missing thing was weather sealing. When the S9 was hinted at in the rumours, it perked up my ears as I would love a compact full frame camera… the Sony option has a tiny EVF so it’s not on my list. But when I saw the specs, and more importantly what it didn’t have I lost interest immediately. So I find myself back looking at either buying the X100VI or the Q3, both of which are almost impossible to get here in Scotland right now. It’s sad they made the decision to leave out what most would say is an essential for any camera… EVF, weather sealing, mechanical shutter and some kind of flash too… 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thank you for that DR400 detail. Indeed not a lot of info about that online. But yeah... if you have the money to spend on a Leica , go ahead but the difference between the two is so minimal that for anyone else it makes no sense to spend money on basically "the brand". No one can convince me that Leica cannot actually reduce the price of their product if they wanted to. I think they just like the idea that not every riff-raff can afford their cameras and it's still considered "premium" just based on that fact.

Great tutorial - is there any reason why not using an rgb parade to balance the color instead of the little rgb overlay so much easier to read and work. After balance the histogram with rgb is ok … also the color board is quite underrated if people really grasp the options you have there they are quite quickly surprised as it works more like a base

The Pro features (especially LOG) are interesting and I like where they are going, however how will the iPhone be truly used as a production tool for the working photographer/videographer? Apart from 'content creators', I think most photographers and videographers own a proper camera to do their work and bringing an iPhone to a paid gig would feel just plain weird. I could see the iPhone being used as a third camera or something, but then again you would need to buy tripod, rigs, ND filters etc. specifically for iPhone in order to make it work. And then the question is if you, for that amount of money, couldn't better just pick up a second-hand mirrorless. Don't get me wrong, I really marvel at the ProRes LOG footage coming out of the iPhone. It really does, like you say, take off the digital edge and feels like a proper camera with a small aperture lens. The question is however if in reality the iPhone would truly be used in a production environment or, as I assume, rather be a luxury for photographers/videographers who like to carry a smaller device in their free time. The way many put it is if you value photography, you will need the Pro model, but I would rather say: If you are really enthusiast about photography, you likely have a proper camera and wouldn't be too concerned if your phone doesn't meet that quality since it doesn't need to.
