Excellent video on this awesome camera system! However, if one isn’t interested in “speed”, but rather image sharpness and detail in stills, product and landscape photography, how does it (and the Fujinon lenses compare to the lenses of the Hasselblad X2D system?

Hey! I’m a photographer specialising in cycling/outdoors (product, fashion and lifestyle more than sports and races) and I work with a GFX50. I wouldn’t trade it with anything else to be honest, in terms of image quality and the kind of interaction you have with the camera. Plus in my industry using medium format is super rare and I noticed it gives me an advantage with clients etc

Probably one of the best reviews of this camera on the Internet. I am a GFX photographer And really, I wouldn’t see myself using any other system. It’s a mix of the image quality in depth, the colour science and simply the way the camera works and forces you to operate and produce images in a much more deliberate way than any other small format camera. The decisive moment is not there to be obliterated by 120 FPS but to be enjoyed and made the most out of. I feel my Fujifilm allows me not just to get the best out of the situation, but also to enjoy the situation while I’m in it.

100% agreed about 1 or 2 film simulations that's a complete throwback. While I like the simulations they have now, there's something missing when I look at images of the past that my dad took of my family in the 80s and 90s. Give me that option because it's different from the others they currently have on their bodies!!

I’m a pro and shoot basically everything on my 50sii. I don’t do sports, but do weddings, editorial portraits, product photography, and travel/street. I have used it while in a massive storm in Iceland all the way to my studio and I never really have any complaints. The 50 series is significantly slower in focusing than even the past 100 series so I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d have issues. I had a chance to shoot it for a few minutes before launch and it was waaaayy faster than my camera so I have no doubts it’s great. I think the biggest benefit for me is I can bring one body and something like the incredible 55mm 1.7 and just crop as needed. I regularly shoot on only that combo and have excellent results. The colors in cam look fantastic which makes me more confident to show my clients at shoots also. That’s a massive plus for me coming from Sony. The end result is really great but you can get very similar looks in full frame. It’s definitely noticeably better to my eyes, and I’ve had clients comment how they noticed I stepped up my gear which makes me think it’s worth something. So yeah all in all, I’m 100% team GFX if you can afford the cost and a little extra weight.

Thanks for the nice video on this camera. I am a GFX100s shooter myself and really like this camera. Like you said, if you don't need speed but like incredible image quality this 102 megapixel sensor with 16 bit colour is at the top of the line. As for focus speed, I am not sure whether the 55mm f1.7 is the best for this as it uses the stepping motors (also found in the 80mm f1.7). The Fuji lenses with linear motor (LM designation in the lens name) are notably faster focussing (e.g. 23mm f4, 110mm f2 and 250mm f4). The Fuji GF glass is high quality, but aimed at photography, and not really good for hybrid use.

you showed the shift/tilt lens and you were able to say that there are two. Yes, these are low-angle copies from Nikon. But you can't say that the diagonal of the medium format allows for greater possibilities at extreme lens positions. About whether the coverage area of such a lens is larger.

Hi Tyler, I bought the 100s with 35-70 "kit" lens: This zoom is really light and the pics are still amazing. I use it when I go hiking, and the set is not too heavy. More stationary I use the amazing 120 macro lens and now I've got me the 100-200 zoom. In the future, I could imagine to get the 20-35 mm zoom as well as the 80mm 1.7. The tilt/shift are beautiful, but out of my budget....

I am a PhaseOne XF user, and 90% or more of my use is on a tripod. The remaining 10% of use is in optimal conditions for be handheld. While there a several reasons currently why I would not go switch to the Fuji, the most important is that PhaseOne has / uses leaf-shutter lenses, and Fuji does not. If I was new to medium format, and my use case did not require leaf-shutter lenses, I would go with the Fuji medium format.

As a previous Pentax 645Z owner I really hope Fuji have the sense to do what Pentax and Leica did with their medium format systems. Offer several leaf shutter lens options in the most useful focal lengths which the camera body recognises and switches to a special sync mode. Best of both worlds. Fujifilm would absolutely dominate medium format in the realm of 44x33mm 🙌

I got the GFX 100s last year. It is a slower camera, but not as bad as I would have thought. I literally LOVE that camera. I bring it on shoots where MF isn't even needed, but its just a well designed camera I find it hard to pick up anything else for client work. The auto focus is tough though, so knowing they have fixed it a bit with this generation is great to hear. I had a shoot where the last shot of the day had some one walking off an elevator. The autofocus was killing me and we had to do it over and over to get it right. Very interested in this camera, but I'll wait for the next generation or 2 before I upgrade again. The 100s has been holding me down.

Let me start by asking who takes photos on the street with a 100 megapixel matrix? show those photos enlarged that you are happy with at 1/20 s. Have you ever printed anything larger than 30x40cm? I don't see anything in these photos that you can't do with a camera for a little money. Another thing is analog photography. I would ask you not to compare it. This simulator is a "toy". The film has its own tone, grain and sharpness. I don't remember that you can underexpose or overexpose it and you will see your mistakes after developing it. What you show is the world on your monitor. Examples of autofocus work are at the level of the old analogue. Mamiya RB67 will also reduce the focus of a riding cyclist. I will also do it with Nikon F100. Fuji is well priced compared to other medium format cameras and has a lot of lenses. This is the only marketing advantage. This will only clog up your hard drive.
