Thanks for your comment. Your situation is so often the case. Perhaps a Heat Gun would work for you in this case?? Just plug the ends and try to keep the heat on the pipe uniform.

Thanks Charles for your comment. The PVC Bendit offers alternatives to the other heating methods. And. They typically are much less expensive - especially when bending larger diameter and longer lengths of PVC Pipe.

Hello and thanks for your comment. You can go online to our website: www.pvcbendit.com and click on Buy PVC Bendits --- there you will see our product offerings and you can select the Series A or B and the length i.e. 3, 6, 9, 10 or 20' length - you desire. If you are not located in the US send us an email and let us know the address where it would need to be shipped and we will determine if we can ship to that location. PVC Bendits work using 120 volt current. Mike

Good video. What would you say is about the tightest radius you can achieve with 6" PVC pipe without kinking? What I want to do is make a couple dozen giant candy canes from both 4 and 6 inch diameter PVC pipe, and I want them to be kink free, with about a 30 inch diameter bend for the hook part on 6 inch pipe. I'm also thinking that making some sort of wooden jig, along with the air pressure might be the only way to go to ensure repeatability and reducing time per unit. Thanks and keep up the great work.
@SMEInkJet2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question and explanation of your design. I'm quite sure it can be done if the diameter is long enough. I like the idea of using air inside the pipe as that process has helped eliminate or minimize any kinks. I honestly don't think 30" is a sufficient diameter based on working to make a 90 degree bend. Are you using 20' lengths of pipe? With one PVC Bendit I'm sure you will need 70-90 minutes and you'll need to rotate your pipe for more even heat. Also, you'll need to be able to keep the pipe hot and pliable while placing it in your wooden jig. You'll need to placed insulation around the pipe and plug the ends to keep the heat generated by the PVC Bendit in the pipe until you relocate it in the jig. I'll be interested to hear your experience.

What size and quantity of flexible metal conduit did you use to fill the inside of 6" PVC? Looks like 6 pieces of metal conduit. Are they 2" diameter? I tried the Greenlee plugs and air pressure but couldn't get the plugs to hold the amount of pressure needed to prevent kinking. One would eventually blow out. Thank you
@SMEInkJet2 жыл бұрын
You can use 3/4" steel flexible metal conduit as it is available. One company used dryer vent hose in 8" pipe. It needs to be metal and is simply used to fill the space around the PVC Bendit which allows the pipe to heat to more evenly. Regarding the plugs, I have not tried what I am suggesting but I was thinking one could attach a few 'C' Clamps to the end of the pipe and this would stop the plugs from exiting. Let us know if you try this and how it works. Thanks, Mike

Hey, this is Trent - gentleman in the video. Your remarks gave me a good laugh and you are absolutely right. Most of our tutorials were overly detailed simply because we were transitioning into using some newer items that I was personally unfamiliar with, and it felt a bit necessary to be as thorough as possible to further reference from. However, even I agree that a two-minute explanation didn't need extended to over eight after having not watched this video in a couple of years. We're currently looking to revamp a few tutorials and taking into consideration that "assembling a rocket to send to space" isn't what users need to hear/see, so we appreciate your humorous input. Kindest regards!

For your info: An electrical company owner told me they used the 9B to heat 6" diameter PVC Pipe and obtain a sweeping bend of 22 degrees in six 10' lengths of pipe. They used regular end caps on the ends and installed a valve extension so they could use about 6 psi of compressed air. He didn't mention any kinking. They also used foam insulation vs. fiberglass as it was immediately available. He is going to make a roller to put the pipe in for future use. It took about an hour to get the pipe to the correct temperature. He is considering ordering another Bendit to increase his production capability.

If you need to bend a 90 or less in a 10' length of PVC Schedule 40 I believe we demonstrate this is possible but one would want to use a form for the outcome you desire to make it easier.
