I haven't taken a look at Server 2025 yet. The older versions are a little funky when it comes to running them in a VM on Proxmox. More and more I'm finding that a NAS is what most small organizations need, rather than a full Windows Server.

whenever it asks for password it keeps saying incorrect can you help
@Practical-IT8 күн бұрын
Are you the owner of the system or did someone else set it up? You could be typing your password correctly, but if your user isn't in the sudoers group, you won't be able to install flatpak. The procedure really is as simple as what I show in the video if you have proper permissions on the system. Make sure caps lock is off, too.

An in-place upgrade should not delete your files, but it's best practice to have a backup in the office chance something goes away.

This is the SSH Server component. If you run it on Windows, you will be able to get access to it via the command line using the SSH client (something like putty, or the built-in client in the command line). To access it over the internet, you would either have to open ports on your router/firewall -OR- use a VPN or overlay network utility (TailScale, Netbird, etc).

Google would have told you that this has to do with a bad memory or bad virtual memory issue. If you're going to run the command, unplug all peripherals except your keyboard & mouse, and make sure no other software is running. Beyond pointing you in that direction, you will need to interpret whatever other errors messages that come up with the help of Google or other search engine, or ChatGPT.

Hello Jeremy, i have a question for you and its really important for me! :) I wanna use a FOG Server as my finals project, and i can't find a simple video of the fog server handling dhcp itself. Its so frustrating that always when it comes to the setup part, everyone clicks "no", but i need to see how to configure the DHCP on the fogserver and how to handle things from there. Also no one explains after it how to setup up imaging, and multicast. i have only one server and a cisco switch with some clients for my project. Will there be an updated video, with this "specific" setup? :)
@Practical-IT28 күн бұрын
A new video is not in the plan until FOG 1.6 is released. Generally for FOG I don't do too much with the Alpha/Beta versions. That being said, I have tested 1.6 and it is relatively stable, but has a few quirks I ran into. The biggest change is a GUI overhaul. As far as FOG handing out DHCP, my very first video goes through these steps and answers the installer question that way. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oImvlIKIhdJoj7s This original video is 7 years old, but still gets a lot of views. If you watch through that whole video, ignore the GUI, but think more about the process - the steps being taken. When I mention "Intnet" that is because I ran this whole demo through VirtualBox and was simulating the exact scenario you are talking about, only using virtualization. There were two network cards on that virtual FOG machine. One for network updates for the fog machine itself. The second was an "internal" network where the FOG server was handing out DHCP. I did this to mirror the setup I wanted to use at a previous employer. Here is a video I did specifically on Multicast deployment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYi0lWCQi8p9bK8 If you still have questions, the FOG documentation is really quite good. You could also reach out to me at the email listed in the channel details. With other videos and projects I'm currently working on, it is unlikely I will be able to create a video specifically for the whole scenario you are looking for to do your project. I am willing to answer questions along the way, and perhaps do a video chat over Jitsi Meet (I don't use Zoom or Teams). I hope this helps, and at least points you in the right direction. As a former IT instructor, the #1 problem I found my students having in situations like this was not making the connection about how similar virtual and physical hardware can be. Good luck on your project, please reach out if you get stuck and I can try to help. Edit: I should add that I'm in the US Eastern Time Zone . Weekends would be best if you wanted to try a video call.
