Nice video. That's a nice place to hike. I was just at that trailhead last Saturday and went the other direction and was thinking I needed to return to the opposite valley. This just pushed me over the edge and I'm going to get that done....and take my fly rod!

@SanJuanMountainBob16 күн бұрын
Well, I might have to try that middle lake. I've fished the lower one and caught a few and been surrounded by hoards of people. The amount of people have kept me away from that area for several years. I think I might be due to go back, though I know it's even more congested now. I've hiked around the middle and upper lakes but never wet a line up there. Looks like you had a great day!
@trout.addiction15 күн бұрын
Yup, it's definitely gotten quite crowded. The middle lake has always produced fish for me, can't say the same for the lower lake. I've never fished the top lake, I'd like to try and make it up there again this year before the summer's over. I'm thinking about coming into the basin from the OHV trail on the other side.

@trout.addictionАй бұрын
@@westoangling thanks for watching! I’ve had a lot of success with dry droppers, usually a larger stimulator up top and really any nymph on the bottom. They love the surface bite and that’s what makes them so fun to catch. If you can find an inlet, that’s probably where a lot of them will be.

Ive never fished an alpine lake, but recently moved to Salida, CO and am gunning for It this summer. Do you usually fish streamers? or any dries? I imagine terrestrials might be productive.
@trout.addiction3 ай бұрын
All of the above. If the wind isn't too bad you can usually see the fish cruising the banks and slurping flies off the surface. BWOs have done really well for me as far as dry flies go, and you can never go wrong with a wooly bugger.

Some beautiful fish there. When I was there in July 2021 further up the shelf alone the steep bank is where they were hanging out. Tight back cast forced you to use a roll to get out there. They weren’t more than 25-30’ off shore so doable. Looks like you had a beautiful day. 👍. Some really great fish you caught that day.
@kirkrasmussen96293 ай бұрын
I never knew they had them in that water, I was up there two years ago and almost wet a line, but wind a T-Storms had another idea. I’ve caught them at the other lake option that requires a good 4x4, the Parachute Adam’s worked well for me up there. Love your channel. 👍

Hi - My wife and I are looking for a two or three day float fly fishing for trout. Do you have any suggestions for fly fishing loges who offer multi-day float fly fishing with experienced guides. I fly fished when I was young but my wife will be brand new to fly fishing. We hope to stay in a lodge with meals provided. Do you know of any fly fishing lodges that offer couples fishing experiences? Thanks!
