Deb, in this video I felt like you were talking directly to me. lol It’s beautiful and I particularly love the one dark window/one light window effect. The yellow glow on the snow was lovely. And the moonshine cast on the snow is totally charming too. Thx as always for kindly sharing your art and experience. 🥰💕🐶💕🥰

for light shade on right what you have used water or white color?
@DebWatson15 күн бұрын
The lighter brown shade on the right is brown plus more water for a lighter brown. The white spout is the white of the paper, but you could also use opaque white. Hope this answers your question.

I plan to make copies of my painting and print onto 5"x7"cards. Is it better, in general, to paint a larger, 8"x10" and reduce it, or paint the smaller size? Thanks! I can't wait to get started!

Reducing a painting usually tightens up the detail and makes it look even better. I hope your card turns out beautifully, Bonnie! Happy holidays and keep painting.

This is lovely and easy to follow. Question, are you painting wet on dry? It wasn’t mentioned in the start of the video. I’m still a novice and can’t tell while watching the video, couldn’t identify the sheen to the paper. Tq.
@DebWatsonАй бұрын
For this pumpkin, I wet the surface with the first light wash (wet on dry), then worked wet on wet. I use Arches 140 lb. cold pressed paper because it takes a lot of washes and even scrubbing when I want to change things. I did a new video on pumpkins that you might like next - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6DIiqiQetmIjrMsi=e78rBp4xiKCBw0Eu. And I'm always glad to answer any questions. We were all beginners once!

Thank you SO much for providing the sketch outline for free. I am trying to learn how to watercolor, but I don’t really have any drawing skills (I should probably take a class). So it is nice not to spend a really long time trying to sketch something out so I can practice watercoloring. It is also nice to have the reference photo so I can learn how to interpret a photo into a painting. And thank you for your thorough explanations.
@DebWatson2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the insightful comment! Some easy drawing practice is to just mark the main points in the composition with your graphite paper (like the roof edges, etc) and then draw between them. You'll still maintain proportions but get some drawing in, too!
