Love shooting macro. I had a professor in grad school who was a plant biologist and he loaned me the Sony 90mm macro for a couple months. When money permits, I’d def add that lens to my arsenal, especially for the mushrooms that grow in the woods here in Maine. Once i see them popping up I'll do a vlog on it!

No deer but the other critters are cool! Acadia can be really fun if you don't get stuck in traffic because there is nowhere to park. Getting to your destination super early will help and using the shuttle. We photographed sea birds on the cliffs there once many years ago. I can't remember what they are called, but we don't have them in NY. Photographing loons is fun, we photographed a pair in the Adirondacks on a misty fathers' day. I can hardly wait to get back out there. I wish you the best in Acadia and look forward to that vlog!

Sounds like great memories! And yes, Acadia can be overwhelmingly busy so we tend to stay over on the Schoodic side and head up to Petit Manan wildlife area. Since I live so close (1.5 hrs) to the major park itself, I tend to wait until late September and October to visit the main park. I hope I capture some seabirds you are thinking of! Either way thanks for watching this weeks vlog, see ya soon!

I just discovered your channel. Beautiful work. I was having a heart attack watching you stand and paddle that kayak with your gear in the boat! I used to have a sit in kayak for Lake Erie and local lakes and would never stand in that! I’ve been too chicken to bring my camera on a kayak! Maybe yours is designed for it. It’s so fun to see the fawns this time of year! Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Ok, Liam. Let’s do some gear talk. 😎 I’m a biologist and wildlife photographer out of Toronto, shooting in Northern Ontario and, when I can, across Canada. I notice you’re shooting out of a kayak and am interested in the model and weight of your boat. I shoot out of a rigid inflatable Airvolution tandem, at 52 lbs. I’m looking for an additional lighter-weight single for local runs up the Humber River in Toronto. (many, many Great Blues and Great White Egrets here - if you’re coming through Toronto, you should check it out). Cheers Tom

I’d love to visit the Toronto area! I’ll keep this in mind. As for my kayak it is the Native watercraft ultimate 12 and weighs about 55-60 pounds (it’s an older model and don’t know for sure. New models are 60lbs). I’ve had my eye in the Old Town Solo Discovery 119 that comes in at 56 lbs and is a little wider than the one I have. I’m more so worried about stability over weight tho. 52 lbs is hard to beat! Let me know if you find something suitable, thanks for watching!
@tomdearie5165
@tomdearie5165 6 күн бұрын
@@liamdmcinerney The single version of the Airvolution is only about 39 lbs. I’ve had my tandem over rocks, and log snags, and everything the Canadian backcountry can throw at it. Super stable. Paddle safe and good luck with the deer. 👍🦌

Thanks, Liam! It was really good to see some kayak photography. Too bad about the lack of herons, but I'll never pass up taking a good photo of a RWB. I blew out my rotator cuff at the end of March and had to have it reconstructed, so I'm living vicariously through your video. Love the craftmanship of your place, especially those old nails. Do you have any history on the house/property, do you know when the house was originally built?
@liamdmcinerney
@liamdmcinerney 20 күн бұрын
So the portion of the house I was working on here was built late 1800s and seems most likely a small cabin or maybe a horse barn. The other half was built in the 50s or so. The biggest giveaway of the age is in the basement where the foundation on the old side is field stone and concrete on the other. Our neighbors actually owned it before selling to the family we purchased from. Small town!

That's awesome Liam, looking forward to the new content and your properties growth. Will this have any change in the frequency in your uploads? I came for the wildlife restoration and content, but will be staying for the home renos! Any chance you plan to build a permanent wildlife blind on your property and mix the two disciplines together?
@liamdmcinerney
@liamdmcinerney 26 күн бұрын
Hey Cameron! No change with frequency of posting, as I’ve found these home videos take awhile to film so maybe just one a month? Some projects are small and I’ll likely work wildlife restoration or vlogs into those postings. I think my main goal with this is to still create videos even when I’m stuck inside for a week straight getting a *needed* house project done. And yes, I’d very much like to build a permanent blind down where I set up my feeders. Over the last 2 weeks my path down there has completely overgrown with ferns and other vegetation, so I need to define paths and dig trails. Will be a lot of work that I may leave to the cooler late summer early fall months. But when I do build a permanent blind, you already know I’ll film it! Thanks for your support!
