Nice video. I’m having trouble finding basic handling stuff here on KZbin. Let me add that a $6.00 Cuban yo-yo as your spool adds a lot of functionality. It “casts” by releasing line easily on its tapered side. And it holds nicely on the upright side.

Hi, I don't know if you'll see this but I'm currently in Florida on a trip and was wondering if you would mind recommending me a public place where I could bank fish for as many exotics as I can. I am a multispecies angler looking to add to my list. Looking for cichlids and some big fish. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Thank you so much for the kind comment. I always go back and forth on whether I just do music and subtitles or talk. It is great to know that you prefer it like this. Honestly, this is so much easier for me, I hate to talk on camera. The music seems to be hit or miss, some people like it and some not. I've been meaning to experiment with those new AI voice overs, basically the computer turns the subtitles into voice for you. We'll see how that works out.

I used to hand line fish with a bottle when I was little. It was good when I found a spot with a lot of brush but couldn't cast with my pole. This video brought back a lot of fun memories. I think I know what I'm buying tonight lol

Thanks so much for the comment Koga. Those childhood memories were the motivation for designing the yoyito. The idea came to me while at the local sporting goods store. I was looking for one of those fancy aluminum carts to carry my fishing gear. I had been accumulating rods and related accessories for years, to the point I needed something to carry all my stuff. Then it dawned on me: Why do I need so much stuff? I grew up fishing with a simple plastic or wooden handline reel. Back then fishing was not just a sport, but a means of feeding the family. So I settle on the following design goals for the reel: 1) It must out cast the plastic reels. 2) It must fit in your pocket. 3) It must allow you to land big fish. 4) It must last a lifetime. And there you have you have it.

this works great in calm sea from some rock or pier, but hard in waves or sand beach, i use much smaller hooks and no weight, it sinks from weight of bait, i never bring bait with me i just use any crustacians, shells, insects i find right there in fishing spot, or sometimes just move shinny hook to do artificial bait haha, love the minimalism of it

With highest respect that you ARE a fishing machine (man how many fish you got in a 30mins vid) yet you respect their little life so much and not willing to hurt them even with finest detail. Sportsmanship, enjoy the process yet do not take what not needed actually... Very respectful!

It's awesome to see you showed compassion for a fish you hardly know even he swallowed your hook, kudo! I saw too many fishermen throughout my fishing life would just yang the 10 cent hook out and tossed them back in water as catfish food. A class act Sir!

Oscars are Evasive species in FL. It is illegal to throw them back.
@Fishingyoyito
@Fishingyoyito 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve encountered this kind of comment before, but I've read the regs and I don't find anything about it being illegal to throw Oscars back. They do encourage you to harvest them as they are good table fare with a white flaky meat. I’ve eaten my share and would agree they are not much different than bluegill when it comes to taste and texture. But this automatic tendency people have to take it upon themselves to exterminate a species is a slippery slope of problems. I have also been to many fishing spots full of saltwater catfish carcasses, because there are some anglers who also think that somehow these should be killed too. In fact what I've found so far on the FWC website, is that most non-invasive species cause little or no damage to the ecosystem, with a few notable exceptions like lionfish and pythons. However, they do state that wanton waste of wildlife is illegal. I suspect that most non-native species that are thriving are probably simply filling a niche left behind by the decline of native species. The reasons for the native species decline can be complex and often include human activity as a major factor. I would not be surprised if Oscars thrive in waters not apt for native species and provide important nourishment to native birds, reptilians and other predatory fish like gars. I tend to find them more often than not in low oxygen areas populated by cichlids and gars. I would like to see some scientific evidence and a clear statement by the FWC before embarking on an extermination campaign. If you are sure of the FWC position on Oscars, please post a link here to where they state this and I would be happy to change my position and abide by the law. But if you are wrong, I urge you to stop encouraging others to break the law.
