Sadly maybe they need to start charging for permits to walk the Caminos and limiting the number of permits issued per quarter of the year. Meaning if you want a certificate, you will be willing to pay for a permit and this will eliminate many of those who disrespect the local population.

With due respect to John's intimate knowledge of all things Camino, when I hear him speak with that unmistakable Scottish brogue, my mind immediately goes to asking him whether I should bust a 7 iron into that wind, or feather a 5 iron underneath it...⛳🏌♂

Maybe a good idea to have a paper to sign at the pilgrim's office start that lays out the unofficial "rules of the Camino". "I agree to poop at least 50 feet from the road and to pack out my tp."

Need to add respect for private property along the routes. Don’t enter private property, feed the animals or pick the produce! We’re guests in the country. It’s common sense and courtesy. Sometimes the entitlement witnessed is unbelievable.

...beautiful channel - love it! I feel a bit torn by the rising numbers, but it was such a mind blowing experience for myself (Camino Aragon/Frances 2005 + 2010), that I'm at the same time glad, that so many people feel called, and decide to walk it. The factory plans for Palas de Rei are appalling - thanks so much for beating the drum for the protest! May it be successful! Just some gratitude for you guys, Leigh and Johnnie, for holding up the side of respect - for the land, the people living there, and the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage - it is so much more than 'just a walk'! 🌞🙏💖

It's surely overreaction to claim that the proposed pulp plant will emit lots of pollution. All European countries have incredibly strict laws about manufacturing, and pollution just doesn't happen. Please don't judge Europe by the cowboy standards present in the USA.

It always strikes me as bizarre how the Govts and Councils put so much responsibility on residents using water when they barely use 10% domestically worldwide. And yet Corporations get water subsidies from Govt...eg Coca-Cola virtually get theirs free, and for what? :- bubbly nutrition-empty sugar water......
