I don't see why there must be a card attached to the black cloth; the cloth by itself would do just fine. Furthermore, magicians often ask people to sign one of the cards; next thing, their very own signed card pops up stuck to the other side of the window! This to me defies explanation, and this video does nothing to help to understand it.
@AboutMagic6 сағат бұрын
The black cloth is just there to help with the visual of the card appearing. You’re right. Working with a signed card is an entire new trick that complicates things.

Thanks so much Robert. While the effect is quite similar, the gaff is different from the one that I sent you. This one is easier to make but of course, one has to have the magnets. I think the gaffs are mostly interchangeable to perform the various tricks.

Nice trick! The vid says to make two of the gaffed die. I understand how one of them sticks to the underside of the metal jar lid and gets knocked loose. I am confused as to how the other one reliably sticks to the ring... how exactly is the switch-off reliably made? The top die is also sticking to the lid (6 is up, 1 is the other side). You put your hand down and get the top die to stick to your ring but don't you have to worry about 'polarity' of the flat magnets so they don't REPEL instead of attracting? Are the magnets strong enough to act thru the die?
@AboutMagic13 күн бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. I now realize that I left out some details. The lid is plastic so it doesn't attract the die. The two dice attract to each other through the plastic lid to hold them in place. The magnet in the hand is stronger than the ones in the die, so the ring overpowers the dies' magnet to pick it up. And this releases the die underneath. And yes, you are correct, you do have to experiment with polarity. But this is simply a matter of testing the magnets and then turning them over before taping them into place.

I tried to explain how to make the "pinch" twist on the third one that I make in the handle, but should have introduced it first. Once you have a small basic twist, you're holding the balloons on both sides of it (I'm using my left hand), and then with the right hand, grabbing the small basic twist and then pulling it up and twisting it.
@AboutMagic14 күн бұрын
I think the explanation is better in this lesson for the teddy bear balloon (the pinch twist is used as the ears): At 1:30 in the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYq3kp1vn72ieZIsi=ak1GOIZ1_lw8-FaY

are you using a clear thread for this because I cannot for the life of me identify the black thread
@AboutMagic15 күн бұрын
Clear thread tends to be shiny and doesn’t work for these tricks. I used ultra-black thread and made sure the lighting didn’t bounce off of it.

What are the best quality balloons for this and balloon twisting in general?
@AboutMagic25 күн бұрын
The balloons that most pros use are by Qualatex. You'll find a shopping link with the video. It's the brand I've always used that are thicker and less prone to popping, especially when you make complicated balloons.
