I quit in EW and didn't come back. For me the gameplay became to repetitive and the story was awful. I sighed when in 6.4 or was it 6.5 or .3? Yshtola solved yet another magic problem by manipulating aether in a new way. The writers introduce problems that get solved without any drawbacks by npcs in 10 minutes. Why should i care? Not to mention that characters can get return from the dead (Zenos) or have fake deaths (too many) and the time travel that works however they want it now... the final days that got retconned... basically the writers don't care so why should i? They destroyed all tension and i went on to experience stories by writers that want to entertain

I've been involved in a lot of talk about the last zone of 7.0 and every time someone says they thought the last zone was really bad and largely pointless, I always ask them if they've ever lost anyone really close to them? For the folks that thought Living Memory was dumb and pointless the answer was always "no." The point of that zone is to highlight that Living Memory doesn't exist for the sake of the individuals inside it--who are indeed constructs made to resemble the people they were in life. It exists for the sake of the rest of the people of Alexandria who are still alive, so they don't have to grieve over losing their loved ones. The process of shutting down Living Memory zone by zone is an allegory for the grieving process: which is letting go of the person you lost and allowing yourself to move on. Trying to hold onto the past is dangerous and will do you great harm emotionally in the long run. The narrative wasn't even subtle about this point, describing how the process to siphon the aether needed to sustain an infinitely increasing system of "soul" preservation is literally going to destroy the world. When I reached the first interaction with Namikka, I immediately thought about a dear friend I'd lost and what I might say to them if this place were real and I could go visit them again. It didn't take long for it to click that I all I really would want is a chance to say goodbye. But since I wouldn't really be interacting with them, nothing I could say would actually change anything. Every single construct you speak with tells you this almost explicitly: "Don't linger here stuck in the past. Let go and move on." Needless to say, Living Memory had a huge impact on me and was one of the most memorable parts of the MSQ. I genuinely wonder how different all the critics would feel about that place if they take the time to revisit it after experiencing a loss of their own.

I played from launch for 6 years straight. I had a large house........you see where this is going. Well, when I "came back" just to save my house, my house was already gone. I was ok with that, what enraged me was that ALL of my stuff I had in said large house was gone to. I thought I had more time to sub to save my "stuff", so I guess it was my fault for not understanding. But do you know how many hours I had acquiring the Stuff? The rare stuff I had? ALL GONE!!! I'm still miffed and it's 5 years later. Give everyone a HOUSE, let it sit in the Netherlands FOREVER, or until the game is no longer. I did rage a bit, no one replied......and I haven't went back.

Usually i come back for a patch but Dawntrail is the first expansion where I'm just not interested in returning back for the patches. I gave it a chance and played 7.0...and I havent returned since...this is after playing the game since 2.0. I used to love playing as all the tanks and their unique intricacies...now they just about play the same aside from the different costume set. Paladin vs Warrior vs. Dark Knight used to be quite a time. Paladin offered more party defensives and was more safe and newbie friendly, DRK was more about MP management to fuel attacks and uniquely leveraging parry (I miss you dark dance + old reprise...), WAR was the high risk, tank-stance-is-for-pussies tank where at really high levels you just went all balls offensive with no tank stance (as it reduced your attack back then) and dont look at your HP bar (lol). How I miss those days....

FFXIV has nothing to do. the final zones in each expansion are just a waste of time to make. FF storys are always weird. duty finder is easy to cheat to get crystal tower people wear lv50 gear and mess up the queue. people say they want more challenging content but want to queue for the lv50 stuff. it's so bad when you do get a higher level queue everyone frogot how to do it. but there old 23 years old MMO FFXI still has thing to do, even things from the start of its life can still be done even for the newest content..

The funniest part of this scene is imagining how Hermes felt as he watched Venat and WOL slip away. He couldn’t have possibly expected that instead of telling the convocation Venat will go the schizo route, his last moments were those of. “Fuck, I’m done” and that is amusing. Additionally, imagine Amon getting his Fandaniel memories from the Crystal and combining this with his recurring dream. He would see that scene play out and then realize that Venat did not in fact go to the convocation…Trying to figure out how the hell that happened alone could have been enough to drive him mad.

I really enjoyed your “alternate version”. I love FFXIV but was sadly so bored in DT. The staff should hire you to help them develop the next expansion!

Considering that Helldivers 2 is cooking up something big for tomorrow (I predict the Illuminate invading Super Earth) AND Monster Hunter Wilds releasing at the end of this month, it'll take a miracle for them to get back those lost players. I'm still gonna play the patch updates since I still have faith, but I'll be more busy with Monster Hunter Wilds until at least the relic weapons come out (hopefully it won't be like the EW relics)

This game absolutely sucks, it is nothing but a punishment to try and play. They make the quest horrible on purpose to force you to pay real money just to skip it, it is the only game I’ve ever seen that sucks so bad people demanded to get the option to pay so they don’t have to play the shit. I wanted to get into the game badly just because I love healing in dungeons in wow, but I don’t have a pc anymore so ff14 is the only option I have to play healer. But in order to do that you are forced to grind dozens if not over 100 hours being drug through the absolute worst cutscenes and braindead story, it fucking sucks and having so much locked behind the shit MSQ is only another way they punish you to the point paying $25 to skip the main story and not play the game does not sound bad.

Because its boring. The chosen one story has really come to a head and you can't make a good story when you're the giga op god slayer. It all feels tiresome now. I have so many tools to deal with every problem and a literal spaceship and it all has to be handwaved away every single time. I have zero reason to enter the world because fates are not only boring, but give nothing of value besides xp. Everytime they introduce an evergreen feature.. they do it poorly and forget it. CHocobo breeding and racing... housing is still a mess.. island was wasted.. hunts are just zergs.. It goes on and on. A bunch of pointless activities that never go anywhere.

I can see Dawntrail getting an ARR type re-do in the future tbh.

I wish to be out of this god damn 2 min action cycle. Wish that the game could go back to what it used to be in terms of the combat design. While using some of the more recent and new mechanics and ways of handling combat. The old ways of playing your class from the era of Stormblood was a peak. To do that once more would be nice! 10k hours on this game and I have never been more bored for the end of the last expansion and the current one. Making me want to play the game with others and being social too again. Now it feels like there is no point in even getting on to begin with. It is a sad feeling truly. I wish the story would take a turn too. Like many others, seeing that they could take risks like many others want. It would be nice if we could have some excitment, tackle some interesting topics. ffxiv was funa at first.. its so outdated the combat is so clunky regradless if your use to it or not its clunky compared to every other mmo

I quit playing 14 about this time last year because limsa Lominsa is full of pedophiles looking at the lalafel players like they're their own personal access to kiddie porn. there are no repercussions for harassment of any kind, guilds are a pain in the ass. sometimes you sit in wait cues for HOURS as a DPS player, which is absolutely ridiculous. Mentors are trash and often berate new players or those who are not playing competitively. everything is ridiculously over priced in game and grinding takes forever to get gear to do new dungeons. classes stopped giving new story quests so they stop being fun at all with no further development. All people do is drag you if you don't understand mechanics immediately, can't tell you how many times people kicked me out of raids when I needed them.

The worst part of DT is how you have to play through it to get to the next expansion. I left after EW because EW took a smelly dump on the lore and an influx of lying leechers were ruining Savage. Every time I thought, "maybe I'll fire up XIV again," I remember the only content is the same copy-paste, braindead savage, ex, normal dungeons, and blah blah blah... and DT. I immediately feel slightly disappointed and move on. This game is stale. The narrative designers have no respect for their work. Yoshi P is a great manager but a horrid game dev and needs to hand the mantle to someone capable and knowledgeable in game design. Just knowing I have to suffer through DT is enough to make me never return to the game even if the next expansion is on par with the Squaresoft era FF games.

The community in general is in shambles, super massive pedophile issue that is being enabled by the modding. Modding in general destroyed the community and you get harassed for not liking mods...

Add more personality and complexity to all jobs, buff clearly weaker jobs like rdm and mch, let the mch pilot the mech, nerf picto, make a story worth reading one that doesnt bore your players, make so you dont lose your house if there are still open plots in the ward. Covid made ff14 huge and now it’s over no one cares

I played those MMOs of yesteryear, and today's FF XIV leads you by the hand while shooting you through the first couple of dozen levels. I don't want a grind like some, but I would like a little more complicated experience. The end game can get boring fast when you are rushed there without time to get absorbed and figure out the game. You can reset the game, but the experience isn't different enough to my liking. You can only have so much unique voice acting. Even some of the development team claim that the game has been dumbed down. Maybe it's not what the game was designed to give you, but what today's players, that need instant gratification and max dopamine rushes, want the game to give them.

Some folks I talk to said it’s might take 7.3 to get back the players but that September or what August? PF is hell there almost no one on primal. And Reddit like to gaslit people who say anything negative and lie and dog pile you. The biggest issue is toxicity lack of accountability of the game peaking out. Or becoming too big for itself. I feel no one wants to run anything anymore. I was in ps3 beta but really started to play in 2017 the end of HW. And it’s worse than SB in terms of players Qs take so long as healer or tank now. Aether always open now, I’m not sure what to think i think it’s end of the road I hope I’m wrong tho. The game feels empty void of itself. I remember Covid everyone being on till morning talking spending time. I understand it can’t never be that packed. But it doesn’t hit the same since EW beginning. And or just before data center travel.

The game's smug diehards are still coping because it's above SHB launch figures (well, duh, that's when the game first got its fame.) What they're neglecting is that the game is showing a consistent downward trend since EW's patch cycle concluded, and one which I doubt SE is going to be able to recover. I won't be surprised if it dips back to SB numbers eventually. The playerscope addon has another inadvertent facet to it - it can expose the number of unique accounts actually playing the game. So it's going to be interesting when that has a proper tally released, excluding the free trials and free login campaigns, i.e. non sub fee generating players. And all we see from the devs is so far unrealised promises and, to an extent, apathy. I'm surprised people critical of the game are still playing it, tbh. I think the devs have given strong signals now that they don't really care about story criticism and don't understand why people dislike it and Yoshi's response to the gameplay devolving to the 2 min meta didn't impress me much.

In the last expansion, we traveled through time, fought and killed Zodiark, killed Hydaelyn herself, walked on the moon, met beings as old as time itself, flew a spaceship to the edge of the Universe, and defeated Despair! We literally saved the entire Universe! This expansion, we are helping someone get a title from her people so she can... rule.... or something. Big deal. So what. No one cares. Shadowbringers was awesome! Emet-Selch was the absolute best villain! We saved an entire star from destruction and put an end to the Ascians! Endwalker - One Ascian left plus Xenos. We destroyed them too. We ended them too and put an end to the "end of the entire Universe". We ventured into the Void and began a process to save not only that star, but the one where light overtook everything. We began the process of restoring balance to both of them. Dawntrail? We're running errands for some competition that doesn't even pertain to us. Just so a woman we just met can look important to a bunch of people we just met in a culture we never even knew existed. Let me go back to my island. This doesn't concern me.

If it weren't for vfx mods that do a far better job with animations and sound design than what the devs came up with (looking at you Mnk, wtf is that Leaping Opo and Elixir Burst), I'd probably give up on this game I once loved since 2016. Though, I guess MMOs aren't for me anymore either, idk. I lack patience for PFs and don't care or have time to commit to statics, so there goes trying any Team Jump Rope content. Pvp's alright tho so far, except for win trading in the upper ranks, but that's why I'm not bothering with Ranked for now. Probably with the others on the stale simplified combat and lackluster story, a damn shame Ishikawa doesn't seem to do the writing anymore since getting promoted 😢 I'll still see if the new Exploration zone thing and story is worth, since I enjoyed Bozja with randos plus Matsuno's writing (he did FF Tactics, FF12, FF14 Ivalice and Bozja stories, I think)

I can't finish this expansion. I've tried twice. I'm only still subbed because I have a house. But I cannot finish this trainwreck, I'm just going to wait for the next expansion and then do the heretofore-unthinkable: buy a story skip.

All I can say is... it all started with the removal of DRK's Dark Arts. We could have prevented this with enough backlash, but then you all stood back while they gutted hisatsu kiten during ShB, Selene during Stormblood, and Astro during EW .You all deserve the FFXIV you have now. Lie in this bed you made and rot with the withering corpse of a game you've created through your own inaction and apathy.

11:19 Oh, let me brag on about Dragoon changes in Yawntrail, because those are terrible. I mained it since the end of Stormblood and loved it more than any other job. Aside from aesthetics and Job's legacy (if anything, it provided a ton of interesting characters and designs) I really enjoyed animations, the way that you have to think before taking any Jump, and it's Job mechanic. And ai enjoyed them to the point where I would go into some Raids or Trials just so I can test something new or play in some specific way. And guess what? Almost all of it is gone. Let's start with animations - now they feel like they lost a lot of weight. Jumps (other than Stardiver) are too short to even notice what is going on, Drakesbane seems like a random mess of slashes, Chaotic Spring doesn't have as much impact as Nidhogg's Ala Morn, and boy oh boy do I want person who designed Starcross to get fired, because instead of som cohesive Jump Dragoon got a beam of light that comes out of nowhere and doesn't relate to anything and doesn't have anything what makes it a Jump. Which leads onto my next complaint. Planning before acting is gone with Spineshatter Dives and animation locks. The most memorable thing about Pandemonium raids for me was movement management during burst phases in P10S and P12S, where I had to plan beforehand when to use my 5 Jumps to fit all of them in burst windows, and it means that I have to reconsider order of other OGCDs (especially Life Surge and Wyrmwind) as well. But now we have only 3 Jumps, and to make things even worse, we lost 2 Nastronds in 7.1, so there's almost no room for planning. And the cherry on top. Job mechanic - the Dragon Gauge. It was a very versatile and interesting tool that allowed you to start your burst window whenever you see fit and adjust it however you like. Want to start your LoTD early or a bit later into the buff window? You can do it freely, as long as you have 12 secs for 2 Nastronds in buff window. Want to go into it back to back? Sure, why not, especially if boss timings allow you to gain additional windows or if it is about to die. But it changed in 7.0. Now you have a 60 sec CD and that's it. No more versatility for you, no more early LoTD windows, nothing. And what's worse - if you can't press it during 1min burst window (like in M1S where you can get stunned by Black Cat) then you're screwed for the REST of the fight and there's no chance to recover. Doesn't sound versatile, does it? And because of that even remaining kit doesn't make a lot of sense. Where previously we had great tools in High Jump, Mirage Dive and Geirskogul that allowed us to do all stuff I mentioned above, we now have 2 boring looking OGCDs and 1 strict burst window CD. To summarize, they really did it dirty. I tried switching to other melees, but after few weeks all of them felt even more boring and soulless than lobotomized Dragoon, which says a lot. Honestly I would've just dropped that game entirely after 7.0 if I didn't had a nice static.

FFXIV ended with Endwalker for me. I gave Dawntrail a chance, finished the MSQ even but had no desire to continue on. It just feels like an uneeded epilogue rather than the start of a brand new saga. Really at this point I'd rather just have FF-11 Rebirth

I am all for new faces, but not at the expense of the old ones! The scions made the game what it is and I would hate to see them all go. That said, having one of them tragically die if the story requires it I would be okay with. (Please take Y'shtola if thats gonna be a thing, purely because they rely on her aethersight far too much as a plot device and it annoys me...). Though the loss of a major key character might get many up in arms.. While on this subject, I have been waiting for AGES for them to incorporate Aliane, Aerghmus, Hoary Boulder, Coultenet, and others. I see them hanging around the city states, just patiently waiting... They are interesting characters that deserve some story!

I just recently canceled my subscription, you hit the nail on pretty much everything that has pushed me away. I've played since ARR, but its turned into a very repetitive and dull gameplay. I remember picking up AST because it required a little thinking when rotating cards and now it became a joke, stuff like that has happened with various classes I tried picking up. My main is PLD and that one feels no fun anymore, I just go through the motions on dailies. Now I have no reason to log in, other than to waste time. Wasting time playing a video game is okay when you're entertained and having fun, but it's not worth it when it feels like you're actually wasting precious time.

You couldn't even get Cahciua's name right in your 30+ minute waste of a rambling video. Never give your opinion on anything ever again. I actually bothered to look at your other videos and all you do is spout nonsense about how apparently you know better than the entire writing staff working on FF14. Go play or do anything else with your life if this is all your KZbin channel is.

I never once from the Endwalker Post quest with Wuk, to Dawntrail wanted to help her, but fuck giving players a choice, the most we can do is "Doubt" as we do the same nothing anyway. They should treat Dawntrail the same way Blizzard treats Shadowlands "No idea what you're talking about, that never happened, what "Jailer"?"
