I don't understand people who won't take finasteride from the start of early loss (unless it's severe negative reaction). It's so cheap and easy to acquire. I discussed in the 90s when I started taking it with my brother, who couldn't be bothered, and now he's mostly bald and i have mostly full hair. I can't really sympathise, he made his own choices.

It does affect libido..there have been a number of post marketing reports however the problem here is another classic case of post market underreporting. For example , if this doctors patient told him they lost their libido after minoxidil, he would gaslight them and not report it to health authorities, thereby continui ng the cycle of ignorance. Doctors are the problem in post marketing surveillance bevause its voluntary and they will come up with any excuse not to report it ( read about Inman's seven deadly sins)

These doctors are doing business. Unfortunately they have less knowledge. They have at first spread that finasteride side effects go away once you stop medicine but they did not have knowledge that few percentage can have permanent and long term side effects. Now they have some videos in which they said yes it can cause permanent side effects. They are doing business nothing else. Be careful and do proper research while going for any option. Be vigilant stay safe.

So why not just get enough grafts transplanted to cover the entire top of the head. Chances are if your prone to balding it’s gonna get worse so I’d say just cover the entire top of your head with donor follicles and not have to worry about saving your original follicles because clearly their already affected by dht or ya wouldn’t need a transplant in the first place. Using finasteride has serious side effects such as erectile dysfunction and depression and no one’s trying to go through that. The whole point of a hair transplant is to not have to worry about taking daily medications such as minoxidil and finasteride without hair loss.

I am curious about DR Knudssen he is obviously an older gentleman , clearly an expert in this field and been at the front lines of this industry in Australia for 40 years Im curious , judging by his hair he is obviously thinning , from the first videos posted 5 years ago, pretty much the same hair. he has a lot of hair loss , not balding or anything of course, but significant thinning. I am curious why he didn't get onto a protocol early when he sensed or saw early stages of thinning. Is he on a regiment? , how long has he been on it? with all the equipment in his clinic at his disposal , does he use it? has he used it? why didn't he go with a nuclear treatment in his 40s when the thinning would have started and definately in his 50s youd think someone in the industry as long as him with all the latest technology available to him, and the inside data he would have treated his hair through shampoos, serums, injections, healthy nutrients at least then gone onto, dutasteride, minoxidil ... or surgery or ... for personal reason he just doesn't care about it. which makes sense too. many people just don't care. or is his hair the result of actually combating hair loss, because perhaps his father or brother are bald.. I don't know I would love to hear about Russells personal story regarding his hair... and actually even looking at Vikram he has thinning going on too. and if he doesn't do something in 10 years he will seriously thin.. so I also wonder if he knows he is thinning , cares about it, and what he is doing about it

My advice and it's based on my experience: don't combine them! Finasteride 0.5 mg is enough even once a week if you're not athletic! Saw palmetto can vary in dosage, so you should know first what dosage you should take! Generally about 450 mg of saw palmetto is equal to finasteride 1 mg

I had ED side effects with Fin, tried reduced dose (0.25 mg day) but still had sides, no I use topical RU58841 (eg 400 mg mixed with 60 mil 5% minoxidil) - worked well for me with no sides. I also take 1 drop of 5% minox solution every other day, and do a weekly derma roll (0.75 mm derma pen) . I have very fine hair, so I use cheap hair fibres from ebay with some hair spray, works very well for thickening.

Iv been on fin for over a year and the hair loss has been quite sudden and widespread iv already had two fue I've tried minoxidil previously which were no use I'm thinking of starting dutustaride but worried about the sides are the sides more common or severe on dutasteride?

It depends so much on the individual. 40% of native density will look fine for someone with wide diameter hair that likes wearing it short. But 60% native density will not look very good for someone with fine hair who liles to wear it long

I had over 15 surgical procedures over the last serveral decades. I was young when i sustained a small burn on my scalp. In the 80's there was only the punch type hair transplant procedure. Long story short my back donor area took a beating. I've been on finasteride for over 18 years and expect to stay on it the rest of my life. Im 61 now and i fear revealing all the damage if i lose my hair. Fortunately no side effects from Fin...take 1mg a day or 3 mg a week.

how did fin work for you for all these years? did it maintain your hair?
@joses53565 күн бұрын
@rexneedsoxygen7140 has worked great. No loss that I can tell. Still a full head of hair. My dad and siblings had the typical circle on top and receding sides. I've been blessed thus far.

I gained almost 1/3 of my hair’s volume in the last year using dutasteride, my hairline area also got thicker and all baby hair grew into normal hair. Somehow this September, I started losing hair crazily, like 200 each shower(no joking at all). My hairline started thinning and receding too. And I started taking another 0.5mg daily but it didn’t help.

I had finasteride side-effects and stopped for 8 years _BUT_ I simply should have *reduced my dose* until symptoms vanished - lost a bunch unnecessarily. As Russell explains; it's better to have _some_ finasteride in your system because even a little has a positive influence over none at all. One subscription will last me the year.
