Yo Kevin! Love your content brother, I watched your videos before starting BCT back in January and everything has been very accurate up to this point. I’m finishing AIT at Fort Eisenhower in mid August. I had mixed answers about how the enlistment bonus works and was curious how it paid out to you? Can you either make a video or just respond here ? I’d really appreciate it man!
@realkevinellis15 күн бұрын
@@tamarepson8366 thanks man! Yes it depends on what type of enlistment bonus you had… I got a “quick ship” bonus so I got it all in one shot, but lots of people who get like 20k enlistment bonus for example, get either half up front and then the rest over the rest of your contract or just equally divided between all the years of your contract… like $3500 a year for 6 years for example…. The quick ship bonus looks and feels like an enlistment bonus, but technically that’s something separate… you can check the exact wording in your contract to know for sure! Same with the student loan repayment, I got 50k, but it comes $7500 a year… glad you’re doing well man, hope you’re enjoying AIT as much as I did,.. make sure you hit up Waffle House on your pass 😂🇺🇸

@evenoursicknessesaremadein42373 күн бұрын
NCOs that reclass basically show up for PT formation and leave after getting accountability. They also get put in their own class away from the lower enlisted joes fresh outta basic

I'll tell you the truth about Fort Gordon, when i went it had the highest suicide rate of any tradoc camp, so many people was falling through the cracks because of incompetent NCOs and COs, even if its a smooth transition through the Command makes it more miserable than it needs to be.
@pep5902 ай бұрын
I won't say you always have it easy and I'm an old timer. In the late 70's at AIT, there were no phases as we could change into civvies and go off post immediately. So we had that so much better than you all do. Your barracks are much nicer as we had old wooden ones with latrines at the end of the hall and no fast-food places on post, just the mess hall as we called it and the bowling ally. Good plus's from both eras. I love the internet and cell phones so wish we had those then. WE had to hit the pay phone with a pocket full of quarters, but again some parts of life was simpler back then so both have their plus and minuses. Great video and thanks for the info.

GO AIRBORNE. Airborne units get a lot more money when it comes to networking training and certifications. Also opens doors for a Top-secret clearance. Which in hand will land you a good job once you get out

@realkevinellis3 ай бұрын
You’re never going to be allowed to drive it while you’re on base. Some people did it so they were able to get around off base but technically not allowed. A lot of people also rented cars while off base to get around and save money.

I was able to keep my 2 mile at 15 min and PT is actually something I am looking forward to as well as the connections and helping others along the journey. Your vid’s and others as well have helped me prepare better and even consider making content to help others as well. Much appreciated

@@doomdoomerson6524 Damn, I can't believe my comment is about to be 2 months old. Fort Jackson was easy bro, the hardest part was staying awake lmao. I finished basic in March, currently in AIT. Surprisingly when you ship out, is around the time I graduate AIT. If its the same drills sgts that we have now in AIT when you arrive, it won't be so bad. Good luck to you when you ship off, I can say that this whole Army thing has been an experience you can't get anywhere else.

Laptop yes, civilian clothes, not much else to be honest, everything you need you’ll be able to buy there. Phone laptop, clothes pretty much covers your needs. You also don’t really need a laptop.,, but I was glad I brought mine. Some people bring a switch or something, but wouldn’t go crazy with a game console but people do it.
