lol there's nothing to learn from NCOs. Military lifers are clowns that play games to get promoted. I once saw a warrant officer punch a pfc in the face. He was in the wrong NCOs lied for that piece of trash. The PFC and others who put it on video all got demoted. Don't lie to this kid.

Are your battle buddies assigned to you? Do you select from people in your MOS? Anyone you want? How does it work?

On day one after reception you have fight (battle) everyone and the Drill Sergeants pick your battle buddies based on how many fights you win or lose…. LOL , kidding, couldn’t help myself.. actually everyone is everyone’s battle buddy… sure everyone ends up having their favorite battle buddies (and least favorite) but everyone is everyone’s battle buddy… you do get to pick your battles for some events, like who do you want to sleep next to for the forge or who you want to sit next to while you clean your weapon…. Everything else is just a matter of how it ends up, like our bunks were based on alphabetical last name… hope this helps?

You may send letters. They get phone calls every Sunday (at fort jackson as far as i know), unless they screwed up during the week and lost the privilege.

technically you’re on DOD payroll from the day you swear in the second time (the day you ship out) get paid every 1st and 15th of each month. Once a year you get a double paycheck for a “clothing allowance”. You get your first paycheck on a “star card” that you use to buy stuff at BCT.

You don’t really run at basic in fort Jackson, the most you run is your acft and sometimes company or battalion runs which are usually at like a 10 minute mile pace and ours were like 3 ish miles

You’ll probably find yourself doing both jobs regardless… I think 25b is more computer stuff, like email accounts and software, 25h is more networking equipment, (providing services)

@@hypergadgets5234 no I was a 25Q before that, but I didn’t change, my mos was just changed.. it’s working out fine, but I work alongside 25Bs all the time, I learn their job and they learn mine… I don’t think you can go wrong either way, I’m probably biased towards 25H because that’s what I am… but if you get a security clearance for either one, it’s really preference. What do you want to do after the army?

Why did you need to know anything just do it. Basic training is just what it is basic. It's not that big a deal. I went through OSUT in 1990. Fort Benning GA. You do it and you don't need anything but your self.

@@joshcaraballo5151 I think it depends. You’ll probably be treated the same as everyone else. Depends on the extent of your service I believe, we had one guy was was technically prior service marine but he never finished his school so he was still with everyone. Had a prior service NCO who got to use his phone and sleep by himself… but if you are an e4 I would assume you’d be treated like everyone else. Can’t imagine it being any harder than boot camp was, you should be fine!

Not sure why this came up on My algorithm but have to watch it. After listening for a few min and reading the previous comment I definitely have to agree with you. First can’t believe I’m seeing this. This is Basic and they’re allowing this, I understand this is the new generation with social media and everything but now they have all this freedom to do this, second I’m looking behind him and if that’s the barrack room whatever they call it now and looking at the bunk they definitely needs some work, third it is basic training they’re teaching you the basics of how to be Soldier. I will close with this. I retired about six months ago after serving for 24yrs with five deployments 4 to Iraq 🇮🇶 and one to Afghanistan 🇦🇫 and when I went to basics training at Fort Jackson we only had five min daily to call your family to let know you were fine and we didn’t have freedom until we got AIT and still the DS where nothing to messed around. Salute 🫡 to you for joining hope all this new soldier learn something and be proud of wearing that uniform and represent the US.
