“I gotta get outta this lesson before I just kill myself” 😂 I would not have persevered with this fine instrument had it not been for you. Thanks from the UK 🇬🇧

i use the tongue to get that clear note, is it right? by the way, i use the tongue very often to achieve that clear note draw. a clear note, both blowing and drawing, i use the tongue to block other holes

you wouldn't be able to bend notes that way

17 years ago, I was living alone in the UK, and spending too much time on youtube, which led me to this channel... I was looking for good music, maybe for a hobby, and to get back into learning a musical instrument... I remember watching a few interesting videos and enjoying many of your lessons and demonstrations... I went and bought the cheapest harp I could find. We even exchanged a few cordial words, either in a comment or a private message, I don't remember. I guess youtube was a more intimate affair back then. Since then I have moved 11 times, across 3 nations, lived, loved, moved on, and restarted my life more times than I would have liked. I now live, together with my partner and our dog, in the Netherlands. I still spend too many hours on youtube, and never did learn to play the harp.. I also lost sight of your channel, so I was truly surprised when this popped up in my feed. This video is weirdly nostalgic for me, and/but I am glad to see that you are still the positive influence I remembered you trying and obviously succeeding to be, all those years ago.

Beautiful fam Adam. I'll buy a copy, but where do you recommend I buy it from?

Amazon is the preferred purchase point, as they say. But I've also given a link to Simon & Schuster: www.simonandschuster.com/books/My-Family-and-I/Adam-Gussow/9798888457658 Thanks for your support!

This man right here is a legend. Mr Gussow you thought me, at the time a 15 year old Mexican dude to play harmonica through KZbin. You are a true hero with a heart larger than Mississippi. Much respect and love from Mexico for you and your beautiful family

Adam, that was such great info on the xtra sounds that the harp has tucked away for us..curious, and I venture a guess, that u do not use tongue blocking with the 'overblos'..I celebrate this day for my 1st new sound on hole 6. ( : ty again. Sherri

First time I've seen this video. Not sure how I missed it. Have to say this is one of the best synopses of LP v. TB. It's pretty funny, because I think anyone who's played for more than a month figures out you can and should do both. And I think most folks have a primary method, TB or LP but add the other for the advantages Adam talks about. I mostly LP but love that thick, throaty sound that TB gives you so on slow songs will TB just to get that sound. But man, bending is hard TBing, although just recently I've made some inroads. Anyway, in any discussion of TV v. LP this is a must watch video.
