Great to see you posting again! The arabian double pike is called Dos Santos I, named after Daiane dos Santos, a brazilian gymnast from the same Olympic games as Ally, 2012. It would be great to see a Daiane dos Santos review from you, she was amazing and was able to get two skills named after her.

I tore mine twice in Highschool it is not fun. Mine swelled up quickly and when the doctor examined me he thought it was the ACL and they sent me to the right doctor and they sent me to get an MRI. It was really painful after having it fixed the first time. Physical therapy is important to rebuild the muscles that will prevent it from tearing again. I already had broken a femur so leg recovery was already familiar to me.

wow what a journey! Glad to hear you had a good medical team. How’s your leg doing these days? Are you able to stay active despite the past injuries?

I just looked her history up. This injury, a dislocated knee cap, didn't by itself end her career. But it certainly didn't help. She sat out the rest of the year (2011) and when trying out fir the Olympics, in the summer of 2012, failed to make either the team or as an alternate. She fell three times off the uneven bars. It was said that her failure to make the team, her age (19) and previous injuries would probably end her career. From 2008 to 2012, she broke her foot, dislocated her kneecap and had several foot and ankle injuries which barely escaped being very serious. She had a knick-name of being the "most unluckiest gymnast." And that folks is why a lot of sports players get what some people think is an insanely high salary... at any time, with any i jury, their career could be over. Then what???

Hi Darrin, i enjoy your videos. I heard though that Rebeca does not speak english and i have seen various videos where the interviewer asks questions in English and she has an interpretor standing next to her who her who translates the questions into Portuguese and she answers in Portuguese. Wikipedia says she speaks English but i dont think thats the case given the variety of interviews with an interpretor.
@murissantos2 ай бұрын
She said she knows the basics, that's why she's able to talk with Simone, but she doesn't feel comfortable speaking it on interviews. She said Portuguese is her language and she does prefer it

Rebeca is phenomenal and her legacy is incredible! Thank you for your great video sharing her story with your subscribers. A nice follow-up video would be her journey in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. And your ideia of a video on Flávia Saraiva is awesome! I think a little retrospect on other Brazilian Gymnasts (Jade Barbosa, Daniele Hypólito, and Daiane dos Santos) would also be cool. Just a small comment: you mentioned Rebeca earned the first Olympic medal for Brazilian gymnasticsm which is accurate for WAG, but MAG had Diego Hypólito and and Artur Nory as silver and bronze medalists on floor in Rio 2016. Congratulations on your research work and clear presentation skills. Keep up doing such a great job!

Hi! I’m Brazilian and I was looking for a video about Rebeca’s ACL injuries from a gymnasts perspective and I found this video, so thank you!! It’s great and we are VERY proud of her and the entire team. Flávia (we call her Little Flávia) is a total legend and one of the things we love the most about both of them is their mental health strength and spirit. I wanted to add that many people don’t know, but Rebeca’s mom was a single mom that worked as a housekeeper and Rebeca got discovered by an aunt that took her to a government funded gymnastics project. She was SO talented that people around her created a support system to make sure she would keep at it, but her family went through some VERY rough patches economically, so sometimes she had to walk for 2 hours on foot to get to her gymnastics training, because they couldn’t afford transportation. Her brother, when he turned 15, bought a bike so he could bike her to and from gym. Her story is crazy fr
@juliarangelr3 ай бұрын
People don’t understand that she’s a miracle, not only because of her talent, of overcoming 3 ACL injuries that none of her direct competitors have suffered and still going toe to toe with the legend Simone Biles, but because she was born in one of the least favorable places for a gymnast like her to be born at in comparison to places like the US and Russia. The only reason she even exists today is because of Daiane dos Santos, black female gymnast and 2003 world champion that put brazilian artistic gymnastics on the map. And now, after today, if i’m not mistaken, she’s the only female gymnast in history to win silver in AA two olympics in a row. She’s the only south american gymnast to ever win an AA olympic medal at all, and now she has done it twice. If you need any links or sources to brazilian news outlets, let me know! 🫶

Just adding about Rebeca's mother: in addition to being single, she was the mother of 7 children. About the gold medal won today: With her sixth Olympic medal won today, Rebeca is the athlete with the most Olympic medals in Brazil, surpassing Robert Scheidt.
