100% agreed! People are being unreasonably harsh on the switchaxe, it's absolutely amazing in Wilds. The flow is unparalleled imo, using the entire moveset is encouraged and feels amazing. Unfortunately, this happens every time a MH game comes out for every weapon. Lots of people started playing MH in the last game that came out (in this case Rise), and will inevitably criticize the weapon for not being what they're used to. I have friends who have played MH since tri, and they are all ecstatic about Wilds Swaxe, while my "Rise baby" friends absolutely hate it.
@BloodyWyverianКүн бұрын
I share the same sentiment, a lot changed and many people don't seem to want to accept that. I've also heard from multiple people who play this weapon since its introduction in tri, that it feels good and other than some smaller issues the weapon feels good and I have to agree. But as I said in the video, coming from sunbreak it is a lot of changes and "losses" to the moveset. From Iceborne's perspective however it is pure profit in my opinion.

I believe that's bad luck. There is a cooldown on the heal effect but it is so small that it should applay to pretty much all of swaxe's attacks..

Great video. World/Iceborne is my first Monster Hunter game and I decided to take switch axe through the entire game and expansion. Once I mastered the movement I fell in love with it. Over 300 hours in switch axe so far and I can't put it down, I have no desire to try another weapon With that being said I haven't been paying any attention to the feedback from the beta, and now I wish I never had. I was planning on taking switch axe through Wilds but all the negativity around it really has me scared. I didn't get a chance to play the beta but it seems everyone is disappointed in it. I will have to just wait until release I suppose. But it will be heartbreaking if I can't use switch axe to the potential l've built up playing World.
@barbedfungus38772 күн бұрын
I can't say for certain that Wilds' Switch Axe will feel as good as World's in terms of damage but it already has some great stuff that I know I'll be using whether or not it's mathematically good. It was fun as hell in the first Beta, and you'll get a chance to try it in the next one. Also, Capcom says they're buffing the weapon for the full release (haha) which we won't see in this next beta since it's just pretty much a rerun of the first. Definitely do NOT give up on Switch Axe. Trust me.

From a new SA player pov: Missed IB switchaxe (didn’t play Rise), they nailed the “switch” formula, morphing feels so good, axe and sword have their unique purposes, variety playable, strong but not overpowered. Yes zsd spam is there but I only use it in some specific situations. Now axe and swd just feels like filler moves for Full Release. Hope there’s a second survey for us to reiterate on SA improvements.

Honestly, this video, as much as I love playing Switch Axe, made me realise that I love just watching the incredible animation work of the weapon as well. The Sword combos especially highlights just how amazing it feels to use a weapon that just flows and loops PERFECTLY. Also i don't really remember struggling with Barioth. I just remember doing bugger-all damage because it WON'T FREAKING TARGET ME IN MULTIPLAYER.

Man I love the animation work. I love swaxe for a lot of reasons but the animations are just so insanely good and convey the feel of the weapon so good. Barioth was annoying at best and a little dependent on the AI but for some people he REALLY was a wall and understandably so, if you look at the fights that came beforehand.

As good as Sunbreak switch axe was, the wirebug moves elemental burst counter and switch charger promoted skipping the CHARGING aspect of the weapon for more uptime on sword mode. Despite it kind of defeating the purpose of axe-charges-sword mechanic, a LOT of players liked the change. It was guaranteed there would be backlash if those things were taken away.

As someone who has always liked Swaxe conceptually but could never really get into it I LOVE getting sword gauge by hitting the monster in Axe mode, this is how the weapon always felt like it should work to me. I actually assumed that was how it worked when I first tried swaxe and was disappointed to learn I was wrong. I really enjoyed it in the Wilds beta.

I feel like FRS is in the same boat that TCS was in for me in MHWI. A final attack that is stronger than everything in your kit by far, so you try to rush it each time in order to maximise your damage. But the TCS in MHWI doesn't punish you for using it for fat damage. FRS does punish you for using it, unlike TCS, though, which is why I think it feels so bad. And I do think the fix is just to buff the damage on the rest of the Switch Axe moves. Kinda what they did with Wilds GS. They made the first 2 CS almost as strong as a TCS, so instead it feels like a ramp up to the big hit instead of chasing that big hit and ignoring everything else.

Mahnster Hunters vid changed my mind about passive regen since yeah, I hate sheathing but if the monster is doing stuff I simply can't interact with I'm motvated to sheathe and run around. I had that happen with Rey a few times. I aint playing greatsword here. I think small passive regen that increases while sheathed is an acceptable middle ground.
@BloodyWyverian3 күн бұрын
That is true, sometimes the monster simply isn't around and it gets frustrating not being able to build gauge again. Maybe at least a passive regen until reaching the morph threshold or something like that.

@gabrielemarini75 күн бұрын
Wilds SA is very different from World Iceborne SA. We complain a lot about the poor flow between Sword and Axe but in Iceborne it was much worse. You used Sword to do damage and often spamming ZSD. In Wilds I actually see a flow, but it is based on the use of counters (in sword) and offset attacks (in axe) which combine very well with both combos and gauge maintenance. If I look to the future, I see different ways to play it, depending on the skills inserted in weapons and armor. One way based on a continuous flow of counters. The other on spamming Element discharge finisher (which is also the finisher of a type of Focus mode so it will be used often) followed by Full release slash. Then there is the fantastic ZSD. Sure, the real damage comes from the Sword (but lately it's always like this) and the Axe seems almost like something uncomfortable to carry around for many.. Instead I think that the Axe still has interesting things like the Forward overhead slash (from Rise Sunbreak) that gives you fantastic forward mobility (which wasn't there in Iceborne..and that's not a small thing). In addition, the full Focus mode in Axe mode fills 3/4 of the gauge barr and the final hit enhances the Axe.. not a small thing.. However, I would also have preferred that the Power Axe increase the partbreak and KO and not the damage

Biggest issue with Wilds Switch Axe for me is the lack of Morphing options. 2 staged morph slash made morphing so smooth and fun while also making gauge management also fun. (Switch Charger Silkbind was not at all needed or used because Morphing from Sword to Axe refilled the gauge a meaningful amount, even more with the Switcher Rampage Deco) Also, Axe mode *was* used in Sunbreak quite alot. Best combo even had you switch between the two modes, not just Sword mode. I did overall enjoy SA in the beta but the weapon peaked in Sunbreak.
@GodEater0156 күн бұрын
The updates they made to it in the notes are very vague. I’m going to assume if they buffed Full Release then it got buffed for all actions. If not, most of its damage is coming from only Full Release.

Switch axe on MH Sunbreak is peak switch axe
@muhammadibraheemjavaid29246 күн бұрын
To give my own understanding of switch axe a test. 1. I think that the reason power axe does not Buff part break is because of wounds. Personally, wound breaks result in >90% flinches from the monster, almost making the part flinches from world irrelevant. That is probably why power axe is the way it is. 2. I still say that axe mode needs a small speed buff, especially when factoring in rapid morph. In my mind, it is not to speed up the heavy hitting attacks, it is to speed up movement attacks like; Axe Thrust, Forward Overhead Slam, Fade slash, Morphing Fade Slash and any other movement based axe attack that I may be missing. Having the option to morph into axe mode, realize you messed up, then do one of these moves to get out of the way while also hitting the monster is peak switch axe. 3. In my mind, the philosophy of switch axe is having an answer to everything. It does not have to be the best answer, heck it could be a bad answer, but it should exist in order to keep you in the fight. Of course you could say that about any weapon but the beauty of switch axe is its adaptability of game plan on the fly. ( Sorry this point was supposed to say a lot more, but I just won't be able to get my point across in text) 4. ED and ZSD need their roles. Personally, I think ZSD was and is a move that is poorly suited for the switch axe philosophy, but since it exists as a finisher, it should be used as a finisher that will do more total damage than FRS. ED should be used to prediction snipe the monster by giving 1 big hit at the right time to hit the monster when nothing else can. I am not giving many examples, because this change is supposed to be for veterans of the weapon. There are a lot more things that can be discussed, but these two changes beside the ones you noted are what I think should be done.
