I remember watching this game on the TV. We had gotten a color TV that fall, our first family one. CBS still broadcast regular season games in black and white that season of 1965, but in color for this game. The next season it was all color. Already NBC had broadcast all AFL games in color that 1965 season. Now, before that time in the early 60s and late 50s, NBC had the contract to broadcast the NFL Championship game, and did so in color. In 1964 they took the contract for the AFL, ABC TV losing its contract to broadcast AFL games.

Paul Hornung's last game that he played in. He did not play in the championship game nor Super Bowl 1, though suited up.

Watched this game. Remember being as depressed as a 10 year old could be with not only the Browns losing but Christmas break was ending. Good times were ahead though. In a couple of weeks Batman was fixing to debut on ABC on Thursday and Friday night.

So many of these great Packers are now gone . Every time I read of one passing it’s like part of life has changed . The Packers were always two colors … Green and Gold !! They were always judged on how they played not the color of their skin , ethnic origin or religion . Once a Packer - always a Packer .

I appreciate whoever took the time to match the audio with the video. It makes it Very Nice to watch. Thank You ! I REALLY DO MISS this brand of football SO MUCH ! It is the way that it was meant to be played. No offensive line holding , ok to cut at the knees - sounds funny but I truly believe it created a game that required athletes that could bend and move. That made it a safer game. Just my opinion Thank You for posting this !!

This is a marvelous "Team" event with stories that are never put into record books. Mr. Jerry Kramer has told the story of many "Victories" and stories of the "Past History." I was a young High School Junior at I7 years old and attended the "i966 Ice Bowl at Lambeau Field beating the Dallas Team." I Also was a "Packers Ticket Taker on Game-day from I977 to I982." God Bless these moments in time with "Love & Respect for all True Professional Athletic Leaders." Vince Lombardi has made so many memories of "Leadership-successes into Daily Life." Thomas J. Excellence for Our Coach Lombardi, he was a three time "Championship Winner" and retired as a Legend. I served as a Packer's Ticket Taker from I977 to about I982 working at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Game-day. Today I'm a Green & Gold Season Ticket Holder having been a life-long supporter and fan, Go Pack Go-Just Win the Game. When I was in grad school at UW-Madison, this song would always play over the local ad for televising the Packers games on Fox, and because I watched the Simpsons a lot, I got to hear it over an over. To this day, I pretty much have the Brooks-to-Chmura part burned in my brain 😀

What the packers did what colts couldn't do in 64 title game,is that green bay was able to run against the browns, which got them out of playing zone which they did well, and play man to man, which is why starr was able to pass against them.

One month later, The Packers would return to the L.A. Coliseum to beat the Chiefs, 35-10, in the first Super Bowl.

They took out the end zone bleachers for the USC-UCLA and USC-Notre Dame games, put them back in for the December stretch run, and took them out once again for Super Bowl I. The playing field was left all the way at the closed end of the Coliseum, however. It wasn't shifted back and forth.

The most famous play of the game is Hornung’s 2nd half TD on a sweep, but does anyone else think Paul Hornung was probably hungover that day? He made two 1st half mistakes that could have cost GB the game- a false start near the goal line and then it looked like he ran the wrong route and caused Starr to throw an interception.

My favorite era. Notice that the officials aren’t miked A huge downturn for football when they started miking them. Now officials are negating each other on every flag. Throw in reviews and the officiating has ruined not just the NFL but college as well.
