Brought tears to me eyes. Became a Packer fan just at the beginning of their 3 year Championship run. That was an unusual statement living in NYC and having the Giants/Jets, Yankees/Mets as home teams These Packers were amazing and i saw that same dedication, professionalism , love, & respect that was talked about throughout this film. That's also tough for many 13yr olds to see or say at that age, but I saw it & felt it. The night of the Ice Bowl I made a promise to myself that someday i was going to visit Green Bay and meet Bart Starr. I finally made it to GB in 2016 and met with Bart in Alabama just 10 mths before he passed on, a more decent or finer man never existed.

I played at a small college as a QB in 1964-1966 and we ran a lot of the pro set that Green Bay ran thinking we would have the same results. Well we would have if we had Starr, Hornung, Taylor, Kramer, etc. and of course the GB coaching under Lombardi. One of the most important things (as I learned later coaching) is "Chemistry." Green Bay had that.

If you're any kind of fan of American professional sports, how can you not like the story of the "Lombardi Packers"? 1st NFL game I ever went to VINCE LOMBARDI was coaching the Washington Redskins. Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Eagles vs Redskins. I was 11 in 1968 and didn't know how special Vince Lombardi was to football. My Uncle kept handing me his binoculars and saying see that Guy that's VINCE LOMBARDI and told me all about Him. Two guys that Lombardi needed that made that sweep work .Forrest Gregg the perennial all pro and Bob Skoronski the player that Lombardi chose as the Offensive Captain . Coach Lombardi was visiting the Starrs in their new home in Green Bay and the coach was commenting on their home Cherry starr told the coach it was his efforts that made it all possible that if it wasn't for you coach none of this would be possible I'm paraphrasing with that comment the coach excuse himself... Coach Lombardi probably was not the type of man that could take a compliment or a acknowledgment of himself I think c h e r r y s t a r rp touched upon a part of the coaches character that the coach wished to keep private after all he had to protect his reputation as a ball buster that would stop at nothing to get the desired result run to win
