I was lucky enough to meet and play with Derek and John at the Cleveland Irish Festival back many years ago and he died the just before the next. A kinder and gentler man I've never met. All the older music groups were all heartbroken and all gave a special performance to in memorial. I especially remember the Fury Brothers.

One of the best singing voices to ever come out of Ireland. And that's up against some very stiff competition. One of my all time favourites. Cheers from Australia

Used to play that song on a duke box in a certain pub at the beginning of a Saturday night out. And it was an English pub. That was about 40 years ago. It stills sound brilliant. Great words. Great song. Great singer.

Great song. Great voice. I just "discovered" Gene on youtube. The Irish Country singers are very good.Tony Kerr,Daniel O'Donnell. As good as Nashville.

They used to have pubs in Nottingham with duke boxes, and this song sung by him was really popular I think everyone who went in there played it. It obviously was a bit special.
