I bought a gently used Apertura 60EDR which is the same as the AT60ED scope specifically to be able to travel with it, an am5 and a cooled camera for when we travel. The scope is nice and tiny with the dew shield retracted.

I am about to purchase an Evolution 8 upgrading with a StarSence Autoalign, a TeleVue 2" Everbrite Star Dielectric Diagonal, a Tele Vue Nagler 9mm Type 6 eyepiece, a Tele Vue Nagler 17mm Type 6 eyepiece and a Masuyama 32mm 2" eyepiece I am ONLY interested in visual astronomy. I have never been a collector of photographs regardless of the source. The thrill of observing the night sky live is my plan. I am aware the the 8 EdgeHD has better optics, according to Celestron, giving better cross field sharpness. Given the package I am planning, would upgrading to the EdgeHD optics be visually noticeable to my 70 yrs old eyeballs to make it worth purchasing?
@MikeLikesChannel3 күн бұрын
That sounds amazing. And no, for purely visual astronomy the Edge HD is of no importance whatsoever. That's a scope primarily intended for imaging purposes with an extremely flat field. Your eyeballs won't even notice a difference.

It seems that when the Evolution telescope is connected with the mobile Safari Skyportal app, the latitude, longitude, and time will be automatically input. In that case, is the SkySync GPS still necessary?

How do you get to setting mode? And what size of toy is perfect for this machine
@MikeLikesChannel23 күн бұрын
There’s a button behind the coin panel door that’ll toggle the machine into its service menu. I’d say toys under 2” or so. Rubber duckies, little plush animals etc. Amazon has a lot of choices in bulk.

Quick question, I'm new to astrophotography and I have the same Celestron Evolution 8 telescope and mount that you do but wanted to see if the ASI Air Plus tracks stars during long exposure photographs? I've seen people have different mounts that have the counter balance weights but wasn't sure if that was required with the Asi Air Plus. Would love your opinion!
@MikeLikesChannelАй бұрын
ASI Air will definitely track, but because it’s an AltAz mount (not equatorial), no weights are required. Also, the subs can’t be too long or you’ll get star trails.

Can you use a guide scope with this set up? I have this exact set up and want to do Astro photography. Have found it not to be very good for that.

Nope it does not function as a guide scope, Celestron Nexstar alignments only. I'd probably look at the Zwo series of cameras for guidance purposes.

It has a mounting slot similar to a finder scope bracket where you can bolt it in.

@MikeLikesChannel2 ай бұрын
Both are nice but it's a decision between manual finding with help from your phone, and an automated mount on the 6SE. I've owned both, different philosophy. If the idea is to share the view? The SCT is easier in that regard since it's fixed.

@MikeLikesChannelАй бұрын
USB 2 is totally sufficient. An ASI Air will drive a NexStar mount, including the SE, you plug in the bottom of the hand controller (mini USB) to the ASI Air.

@@MikeLikesChannel thanks a lot for your answer! my doubt is that once Asi air will be connected with Hand controller, it (HC) would be unusable and then i could not regulate focus as i have celestron focus motor - anyway thanks!!

Hi, what type is the USB port on the piano itself, is it the printer style USB or a regular USB-B? and is there a way to keep the iPad charging too with that hub that you have? You mentioned a midi cable but I thought a USB-A to USB-B cable to a hub adapter would work
@MikeLikesChannelАй бұрын
Sorry for the delay, but yeah it's printer style USB. I haven't seen a way to charge the iPad while it's connected to the piano. And I can say definitely don't leave it connected when not playing, it'll drain faster.
