I struggle to see what's unique about this theory - it's a mixture of platitudes, undeniable trivial statements and falsehoods.

Looks like a win-win strategy, where alla the parts are involved and must be happily successful, community included, and sounds very appealing. Nowdays, in 2023, do you think we're going in that direction? When the "elitè" are talking about "stakeholder" governance? I don't think so, because it's quite clear that not all the parts involved have the same weight in the decisional process. Nonetheless the guys with power (either political or financial) look forward to have this kind of global governance come true. Unless the "happy slaves" aka "You'll own nothing and be happy", come into the equation of this theory which is unlikely what Mr. Freeman (nomen omen) was talking about in this video. I'm sure of that.

This message is more important now than ever. Capitalism doesn’t need to be destroyed, it is in dire need of serious reform. Jack Welsh’s legacy needs to be shaken off and learned from.

Sounds nice in theory just like communism, realty is a whole different game. The idea that you can appease everyone and be successful is a failed idea and will fail miserably. Not surprised its coming from a 'professor' who is getting paid from tax while creating nothing

Anybody wonders, why this man looks like Karl Marx? Maybe because the whole stakeholder theory is nothing else than Marxism in Sheep’s Clothing?
@nikolairodriguez51474 жыл бұрын
I know little of what stakeholder theory really is - but I think the stakeholder theory is rather capitalistic. It seems to me, it is about holding an optimal balance of the interest of each stakeholder important for the company to continue making profits. Call it value optimization. These stakeholders are the pillar of the company, much needed to produce profits. Of course, not to go as far to detriment your own company. You yourself is a stakeholder as well, in a way. The company is at the center and foremost. In marxism, there should not be any incentive to keep everyone happy. In fact there is no incentive. The only incentive is to work as little as possible, if you think about it. Because you are going to make the same amount of money either way.

It’s important to understand you must talk the talk and walk the walk. Mutual exclusivity does not exist unless your working at a radio station. In isolation communication only can be a sign of stress and a lack of management target strategy progress. This ultimately will lead to business decline.

By mere virtue of the firm seeking profit, the suppliers customers, employees etc. have to be satisfied with their relationship with "the firm" that is capitalism. Mr. Freeman's words are moot because all stakeholder's interest are already aligned. Even the debt holders (the opposite of shareholders) want the firm to maximize profits!
