I know it’s been a few years since you posted this but thank you for the great video. Out of curiosity, did the range to empty work for you? My fuel level on my 2012 XL1200CP works now, but the range to empty shows blank all the time

The only way I can get the pump/filter assembly in or out of the tank is to unscrew the fuel connection under the filter and allow the filter to be moved as you're putting it in or out. Make sure that the tab on the filter lines up with the slot in the base when screwing it back together.

Did you get a new bike? I saw from your other video a turquoise and white bike.

You know, you would think that Harley Davidson would include tach and a fuel gauge on their bikes from the factory, considering how much these damn things cost

Wasn't bad on my Vstar650. They have to get a short 17, or have a lift, or they can lay the bike down on a set of tires in order to break the plug loose. Someone torqued mine tight so I had a fun time getting it loose.

My sister took her car to a shop for an oil change. They never put oil back in. She drove it over a week on synthetic oil that was left on parts. Filled it and still driving it as far as I know. I swear by synthetic.

Do you think that fuel level sensor would fit in a 2.1 gallon peanut tank? Or do you think it's to tall?

Hi, Enjoyed your video and I think you did a decent job of showing the install. I have 2 quick questions as I am about to order the Samsons for my 2017 Heritage. Its says that the fishtail mufflers are 23.5" is that correct? I'm looking at 30" because I don't want the tips to stick out past my rear fender tip. And are those baffled or non baffled. Thanks.

50 ft-lbs of pressure to tighten those 4 bolts that go into the final drive seems like a lot. That housing is just aluminum. 70ish pounds for the axle nut seems about right. Geez, has anyone out there stripped their final drive housing threads tightening those 4 bolts to 50 pounds?

1 massive mistake in the video. Never take your drain plug off before removing your fill plug. This goes for all transmissions, gearbox, ect. If you can't remove the fill plug now you lost all the oil it had with no ability to refill until you're read to get deeply involved with it. Otherwise great video. Thanks for the info. Looking to tell a buddy to do his vstar final drive. Mine is belt driven so no oil.

Why is it 1/2 the videos show the bike tilted on the kick stand and 1/2 show it either level on a stand or the hub level in a vise when they fill it. Which is the correct way. Dealers too show it tilted on the kick stand, and nobody mentions which is the right way. Can make a big difference how much more it takes.

@jonathanvillalba32144 жыл бұрын
The final gear oil? I have seen a couple of these videos and no one mentions having to drain the oil and if you notice when he removed the tire, the drain plug was still there. None of the other youtubers removed the drain plug, just the bolts shown on this video.
@Kro_man_tx3 жыл бұрын
You don't need to drain the gear oil to do this. I just changed my rear tire and I drained the gear oil while the drive was off the bike. I let it sit overnight trickling out. It worked pretty well. Just had to prop it up because it is kind of awkward.

Perfect instructions. I have a ‘14 Limited. Had a small amount of water getting into the passenger side tail lens. Took it off per your instructions, got the water out with paper towels and a hair dryer, then put a coat of silicone around the edge of the lens. After it dried, I reassembled. No more water/condensation issues.
