That is an amazing collection. A lot of people show off a very modern and main stream variety of records, Stones, Beatles, Steely Dan, Floyd, etc. Your passion for music shows. Good stuff.

Very cool records, loved those early rockabilly albums, so hard to find these days in the wild in any kind of playable condition.

Super cool! Thanks for sharing. Great little interview. Well filmed and well presented. Your store is a true gem in the modern era of record shops. I love this place and wish I lived closer. Only been there a couple times but some of my absolute favorite selections have come from you guys. Congrats on all of your years and cheers to more.

Hooray, Record Store Day at Paramount Record Shop in Watertown, Wisconsin, on Saturday, April 20th! Looking forward to it. It is very cool to note that "Paramount" in the store's name is in tribute to the legendary 1920's Blues label from Grafton, Wisconsin, honoring the greatest Blues artists from that time period. Congratulations on your 40th year in business!

I went to high school with Tex Logan's daughter, Laura and dated her for a while. Laura was a stunning beauty with an ebullient personality. The relationship could have lasted longer, it wasn't her fault that it ended but we remained friends. Even though I went to her house many times, I never had the pleasure of meeting Tex. When she told me who her father was and his connection to Bill Monroe, I was fairly nonplussed, I didn't know anything about bluegrass music at that time. In the years following, I became aware of mountain music and the stupidity of my youth! FYI, Jim Messina was originally with the Buffalo Springfield, then POCO, then Loggins & Messina. Messina's first group, Jim Messina & His Jesters, preceded the Springfield.

Wow, your Renaissance collection is incredible! I just picked up a copy of Novella on Sire Records for 25 cents. The following week I saw the same album being sold at another store for $20?

Aye Garrett, I hope to get one of ur CDs soon. Where do you suggest is the best place to buy?
@paramountrecordshop30152 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! If you live near watertown, both CDs can be bought at our store. If you're ordering online, Maple Avenue can be bought from Spiritone Records and Whatever It Is can be bought from Bandcamp. I'll post the links below!
Absolutely fabulous collection. The only Coryell album I have is “Return” 1979 Vanguard. Can’t think of anyone who might have as many Renaissance albums.If any. I could happily live in that room. The killer line “ there’s always more “, you’re not wrong there. Loved it.

So what. It’s okay to not know everything, ya know. I’m sure there are legendary names out there that you’ve not heard of as well. Besides that, he’s a younger fella who wasn’t around back then so of course there are things he may not have discovered yet.

Has that 'collector' approach, quite a generic/mainstream sensibility or focus. Inevitable if you collect these types of tunes soon enough you will have 10-50k of them.
@garrettwaite84352 жыл бұрын
we must not have watched the same documentary, unless you consider Renaissance, MJQ, Kentucky Colonels, and Hound Dog Taylor mainstream...

@@garrettwaite8435 The first two names sell or sold in large numbers. The last two sold in lower numbers. But I was talking overall. I sell Vinyl, for decades,so have bumped into a lot of folks with these 'types' of collections.

Our current store hours are thurs-fri (12-5) and saturdays 11-4. We spend the rest of the week running a recording studio and teaching lessons. If for some reason you're not able to come in on weekends we can also make arrangements for appointments monday through wednesday. Hope this helps!
