I never knew if shoes are of so much importance. I have been mainly playing with running shoes. And have always felt my footwork is not what I could possibly do. But recently bought table tennis shoes and though I have not played any match yet. But just wearing them gives so much confidence in taking low wide stance and feel stable and just move side ways effortlessly as if everything is happening automatically . Earlier with running shoes I felt like it always pushes forward with less effort. And whenever I tried to do a bit of footwork with them I have fallen and almost injured my ankle. I just hope it is not some placebo effect. Will have to wait until I actually play

Yes , Nike flex are great for table tennis . Those TT shoes feels uncomfortable and hurt my feet after wear for couple hours and I bought some regular nike running shoes for TT but so for the Nike flex works good for me and very comfortable as well .

Miss your deep insights on table tennis KZbin. There are so few content about medium pips. I suppose you have something more to tell us, professor. For example, about difference of using medium pips on forehand and on backhand
@tabletennisphilosophy7786

Hi. The great thing about medium pips is their versatility. I tend to return some serves with a backhand chop, then twiddle to use the pips on my forehand for blocking or attacking. If you play close to the table, you can twiddle your pips back to your backhand for a punch block. This is super effective, as long as you don’t overuse it. Serving underspin with pips will also get some players to elevate their returns, creating opportunities to attack. I actually am using short pips with no sponge. I get most of the advantages of medium pips, but the short pips are a little easier to attack with.

Why use this rubber as opposed to medium pips? Also, do you think this rubber has more innate spin reversal capability than P3AV?
@tabletennisphilosophy7786

@@noah7477 The plus of this rubber is that it creates a very surprising slow, low shot when used with no sponge. The effect is similar to no spin medium pips shots. The level of control is excellent. This won’t fool higher level players, but it destroys most opponents under 1500 USATT rating. It’s fun to use, but I actually play with short pips now.

I recently started testing barefoot shoes. Because these shoes do less, the muscles in my feet have to do more and become stronger. To me, this seems to be the best protection against injuries. (You have to start slowly though, because your feet may not be used to it any more after wearing conventional shows for many years)

Im a pretty tall backhand dominant guy that needs to slow the game down, because my transition and recovery are just too slow. But the defensive gamestyle has its own problems since the plastic ball. My father played feint soft on forehand back in the 80's and was quite succuessful with that kind of conter block style. Maybe, after 20 years of hiatus Ill give it a try. 😊What rubber would you suggest?

BLAME THE ITTF. LP used to be more deadly and more common till the ITTF outlawed longer and skinner pips. Likewise anti-spin used to be able to absorb more power and was more deadly till the ITTF outlawed extra-thick sponge behind the anti-spin rubber.

Medium pips are a secret weapon for mid level players. They punish average players because there inverted rubber spin get neutralized. So it turns into a control war and guess whos gonna win that. ..... The mediium pip ox player! The best spin controllung rubber without reversal out there. You can still block...hit... Loop....attack. Its for close table players. I use it on fh....dr evil...stiga all around. If you suck at looping backspin this setup can solve it. Blade is maybe 10%closed...and you swing up a bit to attack. You dont close the blade with mefium pip. Make inverted players play YOUR game! Also great for lightening your setup in ox.

It's simple. If you are a beginner, don't search for expensive table tennis shoes. Look for similar spotts with same movement sequences, badminton, volleyball, handball or squash. I use volleyball shoes from asics, they have many models with different hardness level. I'm happy with Asics gel blade 7.

I, 100% agree with your analytics of Anti-rubber. I have just recently tried it. Transformer 1mm Anti-spin on my backhand coupled to Butterfly Dignics 05 on my forehand on a one piece Hinoki Wood blade (Very fast blade) and found it excellent at returning deceptive and spinney serves and very effective against mediocre players (division 4 and 3 and one or two second division players) as it confuses them enormously, forcing them to either return the ball into the net or off the end of the table and if they do manage to return it, the ball always comes back high allowing me to kill it dead with my forehand. However as soon as I get to the upper levels of 2nd and 1st division players, they just loop it with force and kill the the ball dead with no issue and annihilate me and my return. Conclusion:- Helps massively against difficult spinney serves and mediocre players but you will be destroyed as soon as you get to better more advanced players. Good Luck.

Thanks for the great on medium pips review. From personal experience, medium pips on backhand is very good if you already have established a good table tennis foundation (strong forehand, good footwork…) I switched my backhand to medium pips and not for long (6 months) people starting to hate me!! Players have learned to play against long, short pips but not many understand medium pips..however, as with everything else, you need to learn your pips since there many different medium pips out there. Work with it and have fun… just for the gaming perspective, I was able to beat quite a few players rating higher than me, and everyone I played against is blaming on the pips.😂😂😂

There's a "new" anti out by DMS Sabotage Off/All, it's a faster Anti, attacking is possible. I agree with you 100%, I had 26 years with long pips, now I'm giving Anti a try, a one-year commitment, it goes against my own logic of the game, but it's been interesting first month.

I use my running shoe on my first day training and Its so comfortable and I hit some insane shots, my coach really is surprised with those shots but when I change my shoe to table tennis shoe because my coach said to wear some gum sole, my playing style suddenly change and I saw my coach reactions to my shots and some that I cant hit back. Shoes are really important factor in table tennis.Would recommend lighweight running shoes, but becareful in your footwork.

Hey Gary. I’m not really making any new videos for awhile. The short answer to playing against anti is that if a ball comes to you with no spin or energy, you will need to add your own spin to control it. It helps to be capable of adding topspin or backspin as needed or occasionally just bumping the ball short. Hope that helps.

Hey Toni. I feel like there are plenty of possibilities for blade choices with medium pips. If you usually use a fast blade, there’s probably no need to change it. Same goes for if you are more comfortable with a defensive blade. I use an offensive minus blade, but use the pips on my forehand more than my backhand. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

If you are a beginner, buy $20 sheets of Butterfly Flextra. At the intermediate level, step up to $50+ sheets, you will start noticing a difference. Also, mid/high grade rubber will last for years! In any case, never play with pre-made or recreational paddles.

Hi, I have been using this racket for 3 years with a long pips in the backhand (SpinLord Dornenglanz OX) and in the forehand currently the Donic-bluestorm-z3. You find me very well, I have a lot of trouble topspin on balls that are very cut in backspin. But you can't have everything! I consider it an excellent racket in terms of quality / price ratio.

Hi Jon, how do you find returning fast nospin serves to your medium pips backhand? I find it easier to attack those serves than with 755 0.5mm longpips, and hope it will be consistent enough to stop better players 3rd ball attacks. I fear that better players will exploit this only weakness and launch 3rd ball attacks again and again. I like medium pips because its great against all other spinny serves and vs backspin and much better than long pips for attacking nospin balls too. I play with Dawei 388C-1 0.5mm on BH and Friendship 802 (on 2.0mm light tensor sponge) FH

Hey. You are doing better than me if you can play well with pips on your backhand. I usually return serves with the medium pips backhand and twiddle to get the pips on my forehand. I can return most all long serves with a chop. No spin isn’t a problem if you chop. At least that’s been my experience. Faster serves usually have some spin and can be blocked.
