So what detachment do you feel offers the best tools to consistently win?

Question: The Truck could scout with the Metamorphs in. But if the Iconward is attached (he has no scout) the truck can't scout, because all of the modells in the transport must have the scout ability. Or I missing something.

New Tau player here with a niche question. Is the marker drone on the pathfinder team not redundant compared to a gun drone? The gun drone's assault ability still allows the unit guide after advancing as they are still eligable to shoot? And Pathfinders already have the markerlight keyword? To my knowledge the gun drone does what the markerlight drone does, but with more dakka. (overall great video btw)

I understand your thoughts process of the SMS, but if you guide the units into a different target for their main gun (i guess you always do except for turn 1) youll be hitting on 5/6s, wounding at best at 3+, and they get cover so theyll save mostly on 3/4s. Is that really worth?

About half way through the video so not sure that you mention it, but Kauyon actually seems poised to be the strongest detachment in Pariah due to secret missions. Being able to play cagey T1/2 then coming out and doing massive damage while taking a secret mission can help get that 40 on primary every game, which was always kauyons weak point. Edit: Also noticing how UKTC terrain is waaaaay more open than GW layouts. There isn't a single deployment that I play where I can just pop around a corner and shoot directly into my opponents DZ. That terrain definitely makes Tau much stronger.

Looking at the math I can't understand how sms kills enough of anything to matter firing indirectly. Do you just only roll 6s to hit with them?

The pre-elimination of trading prices is not something I had considered. I always thought: take the biggest threats off first…but since my big guns can do that anyways, having the secondary weapons dedicated to that is a much better move that anything I’ve ever thought of

Im not sure how well this would work, id have to play it a bit but i finished off the list after adding farsight and sunforged by adding another unit of kroot carnivores and a second ghostkeel for objective harassment

i added farsight and the sunforge, and then added another riptide and for screening darkstrider, it does leave me with 1980

With the wide spread use of AI and photoshopping, i consider anything in leaks to be hearsay until i have it in my hand. As you said, these things at best are just snapshots of specific bits, rather than the whole picture.

My buddy Al, he goes to the rhythm of Ghostkeels all day and sleeps by night. Triptide is nice also. If you had to have 3 ghost keels or 3 riptides which would you choose? How relevant is the new lone op nerf?

I'm a gsc faction specialist too, since 8th edition. But, I'm still pretty bad at 40k and lose more than win. so im happy to find a new gsc locus to absorb that sweet brood knowledge. Thanks!

I have been playing ret since the codex was out. I love to rapid ingress and OW, specially with flamers + commander with prototype weapon. It's the whole reason why i always have one or two flamer starscythe units, it's like having your own strike first unit.

That's a very fun piece of tech! and agree that you still have to play it well. Honestly havent been having fun with how tau has been playing in 10th but movement shenanigans' like this make playing much more interesting.

For your matches, were the 2 coldstar and farsight stay in deepstrike? Or did you deploy them?

I know most people are down on them, but the homing beacon + overwatch + starflare could work really well with flamer starscythe units as well depending on matchup. 6d6 flamer hits + commander’s firepower could be nasty

Why not crisis with flamers? i have really been winning a lot with that

Id probably get rid of the pirahnas and hammerhead for either another unit of commander+sunforges or another riptide and more stealth suits. anything thats not a battlesuit isnt benefitting from detachment rules.

I thought that the fire knife reroll hits ability was not allowed during overwatch

Do you find you have to specifically play to not score as hard as your opponent until turn 3 so that you can pick the secret mission, or is the lower board presence in the early game with Ret. cadre enough to lean the game that way already? I've only played one half-game with the new .5 edition so far, and we weren't really trying out the new secret missions yet.

Question, how are the fire knife team that came in from rapid ingress able to reroll hits in overwatch? Doesn’t rules commentary on “out-of-phase rules” say you cannot trigger any rules when moving,shooting,charge,etc. that normally trigger. it even specifically gives the example of firing overwatch.
