Is it better to use a medium to “water” down the colours so that they remain colourfast? I love the colours you;ve created. Super isnrping. Came across your stuff looking or ideas on what to do with coffee grounds (saw your video on that❤. I did wonder if it makes a big difference to use or not use the sand with the coffee. Does it make that much of a difference in texture. - I know, I know. … just experiment - bit I have a lot of coffee grounds that I was thinking of integrating into my art making … ) Looking forward to watching your other videos and learning and getting inspired. I love the abstracts and colour palettes you’ve created and that I’ve seen so far.

Wow I’m so happy for finding you on the tubes. Those earth pigments are stunning. I must say I don’t get jealous but only with the art stores and the ranges you have in the states, Canada and Europe in comparison to Australia 🇦🇺. Last time I was in Canada I brought an extra suitcase just for art supplies lol. Molly you are so inspiring and thank you for sharing your struggles and overcoming them with motherhood and creating. I’m not a Mother but I have chronic health issues and am so scared to post. Earthy greens are so yummy

Hi! You did an IG video sprinkling limestone on a wood canvas and some water and paint color. Is that essentially what you did here? Except with a container versus on the canvas itself? I tried it and it was so dry and not wet enough. I let it dry. I’m going back to add another layer. But I felt like I did something wrong. Thank you!!

Hi Molly, thank you so much for the inspiration! I'm a ceramic artist exploring wild clay. I want to make a painting with wild clay but have no experience in painting. Would you recommend canvas (treated or not?) or wooden panel? Should I mix clay/earth with Liquitex Matte Medium or something else? Thank you so much 🙏

A stretched canvas isn't rigid enough, it would crack and flake off. Matte medium for lightweight adhesion. For anything heavy like heavy fabrics, cardboard or heavy clay I wouldn't use fluid medium, I would use heavy medium.

I’m a newby to the world of acrylics (former watercolorist) so I’ve been listening to you and other artists. Someone mentioned using air paint spray (some sort) of thinner medium instead of water to prevent acrylics from flaking. I don’t know how to judge that advice, and thinking it may be too toxic for me. The advice wasn’t to use a sprayer but in brush, pour applications. Anyway happy creating!
@paisleypeacock10012 ай бұрын
That is correct. This is WAY WAY too much water. For the amount of acrylic inks and paint used, there's not enough binder in this mixture. No more than 30% water to binder and pigment. This is 75% water. If she's not adding about a cup of matte medium or another acrylic binder, her paintings will literally disintegrate. 😢 Liquitex and Golden's websites tell you how much their products can be diluted.

Mortar and pestle. I learned to make paint with natural pigments by first grinding the pigments in a very fine powder with mortar and pestle before diluting them. But, only if you do not want those surprise grains, which I love. They do add interest and an organic feel to the finished pieces.

Super helpful! I have some pigments I purchased to make watercolors but now I’ve shifted towards acrylics and wasn’t sure what I could do with these pigments, this is so simple with the Matt medium and I love the simplicity of adding water to dissolve the pigments. I was definitely overthinking it! Always enjoy peaking into the way different artists work, so thank you for this series. I’ve been playing with the premade colors I have and making different combinations to see what I like working with, just the variety I am able to accomplish. Congratulations on your new addition!!! Very exciting and overwhelming trying to find that balance-more so when working for yourself I imagine! I’d love to see how you take all these elements and incorporate them into a painting! Appreciate your time and effort, truly looking forward to the rest of this series! 👏
