Especially the part about the legs kicking and the simultaneous push of the arms is a detail I haven't found focused on elsewhere. Congratulations!

I observe you only use one knee to support the jump, and you use your front leg's knee. I'm guessing this is what you want to do ideally? Great video!

Thanks for the awesome video. The only waves I ever rode were concrete and wood. I have no doubt if I had lived near a coast I’d have been surfing up a storm.

This is super helpful and I feel like I’m now able to piece together why Surfline recommends certain swell directions for certain breaks.

Argh, I've been surfing for decades but get in the habit of rail grabbing every winter, and need to work myself out of it.

Great videos. Thanks. Oh, it's called 'potential energy' at the top which coverts to 'kinetic energy' as we move down the wave and increase our velocity - which is what you so ably showed.

This is very interesting. I am 62yo with backbone issues that prevent me from poping up "normaly". One thing I see with this technique, is that you loose time. This little time lost is crucial. To not be too far forward the wave, and go straight to the beach, you must angle the board, while sliding your knees.

Newbie surfer question: when I am turning does my back heel have to be flat on the board? I am finding my heel keeps coming up and I am on the ball of my foot?

This is.brilliant! I am 61 and have just started surfing. I use this technique to get to my feet and one day hope to be able to jump to my feet. This video has shown me all the ways that I stuff up my pop up! I havent been able to figure out how I keep ending up in the water but now i can see it. Knee to sternum. Cant wait to get back out in the waves and start implementing this.

colonizers always say the natives are cannibals. that’s how they get their blood thirsty church to allow the killing and takeover of brown people and nations. also, the same goes for thinking they were gods. that’s just europeans writing their own history. loll

Just found this AWESOME channel!! Thanks so much for the brief, precise and helpful tips and advice! I have one problem, I often have "kneecap drag" when doing my pop up, meaning before I get to my feet, my knee caps kinda drag/scratch over the board/wax, which makes it super uncomfortable as the uper parts of thebknee caps get scraped open. Any tip or advice on that? Would be mich appreciated!! Thanks for all your work and all the best to you!!

Didn't know about slope drag locking your surfboard. I thought my paddling was weak. Haven't used it as a signal to wait for wave to lift then popup. I'm a right in explaining it?
