I have also made same model in 200 litter drum all is fine but when surly came out from outlet h need air "from where come that air" so that gas Which stores in tube, that gas goes back to drum, do you have any solution for this problem

How long before the water is saturated with CO2 and needs replacing? Also; the solubility of the CO2 is higher the lower the water temperature. ie: running water to the bubbler with a float valve and using evaporative cooling like wicks to both slowly empty it and cool it may be an idea. Good wicks are carbon felt as found in oven filters, welding screens, etc and in the activated carbon filter that should in fact be the last stage in your filtration system..! Or you could simply use a piezoelectric pond mister. Evaporation cools both the water and the air the water evaporates into, so the cooled air could be used indirectly (smell) for efficient home cooling... You certainly DO NOT want the (same old water) water bubbler inside the hot greenhouse and/or in the sun..! As it's moist iron oxide that reacts with/filters out sulphur dioxide do not put a drier before the steel wool. You want it to rust. www.sciencedirect.com/topics/engineering/iron-sponge-process Water vapour disassociates into hydrogen and oxygen at flame temperatures where it immediately burns to water again but it suppresses soot production in the process. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0360319921025581 So the wisdom of removing water vapour at all, is in question..?

How often do you need to change the filter mediums?

I love the trial and error parts included. It lets people know that they are going to run into challenges. So many time I have found myself in the same situation. "Okay how do I make this happen" then you just climbed up on top and made it happen lol. Love it. Very nicely done! new subscriber gained.

Nice. Just one suggestion from a point of safety regarding gas. Only takes a few minutes tops. No matter how many clamps or fittings or plumbers tape are used. Once set-up is complete put the system from start to end under pressure. Use good old fashioned soapy water. Check ALL connections for possible gas leaks.

Good day. Thank you for the video. I built a similar digester here in Namibia but I have a challenge of gas leaking out between the universal seals and the pipe. Do you have any sealant to suggest?
@schmolty16 ай бұрын
Thanks for this. Really clever using cat litter. Hadn‘t thought of that. For heating, would maybe encasing your digester in compost be a reasonable heat source for avoiding decommissioning in winter?It would require a high heat compost with enough nitrogen and cellulose, but seems like a good off-grid thing worth experimenting with.

When using that type of hole saw, it is possible to enlarge the hole by fitting the original size hole saw, inside the larger hole saw. This will help, centre the larger hole saw, and stop it sliding about.
@lM-zr5vu7 ай бұрын
Might be better to put the steel wool after the water and the dessication medium (cat litter) last. Two reasons. -The hydrogen sulphide reacts with iron oxide, water is needed to rust the steel wool to make the iron oxide available. - reaction of iron oxide and hydrogen sulphide produces iron sulphide and water, but your dessication medium is before the steel wool, so there is nothing to remove this water.

Any luck with the gas? What are you doing with your scrubbed gas in the bag? Are you going to use it to generate electricity or something else? Did you build a water heater to get the temperature up in the digester? I have a lot of grass and am wondering If I'd be able to produce bio gas from it. Hope you've not given up?

I guess you don't get pressure enough, might need an air pump to push it through.

I promise you that you aren't pulling the CO2 out with that bottle of water. Biogas is roughly 1/3 CO2 and you can't remove it with water.
@frictionhitch9 ай бұрын
You should add an activated carbon filter after the steel wool. My understanding is that it removes VOCs. Cleaner burn and you don't have to store them in your gas bag.
@frictionhitch9 ай бұрын
Also should consider adding a condenser to remove water vapor(perhaps mason jars in a water bath. It might work) after the water and before everything else.
@frictionhitch9 ай бұрын
ALSO ALSO I'm pretty sure that you want a base in the water to remove acids. Bleach should work. Water alone won't do much as it has a neutral PH. Plus there is already water vapor in the Biogas.
