They do shoot good. I just have a problem with the shape of the grip. My Tracker and 605 have the rounded grip. Much more comfortable to me anyways. Those affordable poppers are very good shooters for the money.

@573reviews Have you seen how poorly they perform in gel and other mediums?
@573reviews14 сағат бұрын
@Red-b1r8i we get about 10.5" in gel. That's about how the SS198LF 5.7 does also. They both leave a heckuva permanent wound also. Im not worried about 18+ inches of penetration unless I'm packing in the woods. I wouldn't recommend them for protection from dangerous animals unless they have 2 legs. But for personal protection I have no worries. People should always carry what they have confidence in and we've shot them enough to trust them for that. But I wouldn't blame someone for choosing the HST or other loads.

Mine is a stock Chinese Norin co Model 56 with the sticker bayonet. I will never bubbaize it, perfectly happy with it as is. You made an early statement that this gun is not as good as an AR 15, well let me just say, it’s less expensive to buy and operate, easier to take down and clean, and essentially as accurate out to around 150 to 200 yards. Now unless I got crazies bull rushing me from 200 yards across a barren field, where I live is in the woods, and deer are not normally even visible at 100 yards…it is as good a fighting machine and hunter as is available with the 10 round capability. Hell, my 12 gauge pump only holds 5+1, so it’s better’s it! Bulllets are easier to carry, faster to load too! I think it is an ideal prepper’s rifle, hunting and self defense gun! Sure, it does not have the accessories that lots of more modern guns have, but that’s just crap that breaks down, falls off, or hangs up on brush!
@573reviewsКүн бұрын
I agree with nearly all that. For a "prepper" or "preparedness" minded folks it's perfect. For the "warfighter" it's just not as relevant because of advances in warfare weaponry. The lack of ability to mount an optic solidly is a hamper for older eyes like mine. I prefer to keep the 10rd non detachable mag. It's just more reliable than any of the aftermarket offerings. The yugo makes a perfect suppressor host because of the gas system. It can be shutoff and operated like a bolt action. I like the Chinese versions better than the Yugos but nowadays they're all so expensive that it doesn't make sense to get one over other rifles. I wish I had bought a 100 of them when they were $69. I agree the 7.63x39 is a better deer cartridge than the 556 but in a pinch either will do the trick. In a shtf situation a small group of like mi ded people could keep a small community safe armed with several any variation of the sks. It would be a better choice if they hadn't become collectable and over priced but that's the way it goes. Thanks for being here and take care of that Norinco.

When I chronod them I found the 9 really needs to be greater than 5" barrel and the 5.7's need 28 gr or ea
@573reviews2 күн бұрын
We got the advertised 2040fps velocity from a 4" Glock 19 on the CD. The 27gr SS198's have been my favorite OTC 5.7 ammo. The Vanguard is awesome but no LGS has them. I used the 3" GX4 to slow the CD 9mm down a hair so the velocities would be closer and the SS197SR so the weights would be too. I was going to use the Gold Dot 5.7 but they were really disappointing. The Hornady Critical Defense wasn't out yet but is a good 40gr option for 5.7. The 27gr out of a 10.5" barrel is in a different category all together. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
@tedgerahedron2 күн бұрын
@573reviews absolutely. Are you aware that the 5.7 starts dropping in velocity with too long a barrel, 16". It's cause as you bottleneck it you get a higher ratio of surface area to barrel volume with the bottlenecks. Basically means friction increases making it more like a pipe 🧨. But hey you get better sectional density with the 5.7 and the diameter to bullet length ratio is just right. I was getting closer to 2150 on the 5" liberty 9 which seems to liquify the meat test better. It's closer to the 5.7 velocity. Ever since the cops started calling the 5.7 a cop killer they started nerfing the 5.7. Anyways happy shooting brother. Love the channel. Maybe I'll put my meat test videos back up later.
@573reviews2 күн бұрын
@tedgerahedron if you put the test up leave a link here please. I like the 5.7 and 9mm both and would much rather watch a meat test video or other media than gel. Gel is handy to compare what bullets do in gel but it's a far cry from real meat and bone. The "cop killer" moto always boggles me. Any 556 will weave through kevlar so the nonsense over 5.7 seems ridiculous. I wish more manufacturers would start mimicking the SS198 rather than the VMAX because you're right, the lighter faster loads (in my opinion) give the 5.7 the speed it needs to be more disruptive in tissue. Thanks for being here and don't forget to tag me if you post those videos.

Target 5.7 ammo versus a defensive round?

The SS198LF (green tip) has been successful about 98% of the time and is probably the most readily available for purchase. The civil defense is good but not on level 3A plus. I shot about 20 different 9mm's when I was wanting one, and the CZ was the best. @noneyabidness8888 күн бұрын
If you are talking of the rated 1000fps Wadcutter loads, I find them hard on both shooter and gun. If I am remembering correctly, they are NOT recommended in Bulldogs. (??) I do like them in my Model 69 2.75" Smith, but over penetration is almost always there at this velocity. Being responsible for every bullet leaving my gun makes me say no thanks for EDC self defense. Make them 800fps-850fps and now we would be closer to a VERY good round for SD EDC. Avoid needing to shoot, but shoot straight slowly, in a rapid manner when required!

In ballistic gel it performs almost identical to 5.7. About 10" of penetration. It also defeats level 3A at close range. It's decently barrier blind but too expensive when compared to other great rounds like the HST. Also, I don't know who you been talking to but id wish she'd stop mentioning me. 😂
@gsp84899 күн бұрын
If an active shooter is wearing body armor, what are the chances that it's soft armor and not plates? I'm genuinely curious if you are better off with 9mm and more range time with cheaper ammo. The other consideration would be 'is 5.7 substantially more precise/accurate at 100 yards than 9mm if both are from pdw style weapons?' I can't seem to find anyone doing comparisons between the two past 20 yards.
@573reviews9 күн бұрын
The 5.7 is a fine choice if someone wants a full size handgun that shoots small projectiles really fast. In a PDW with a 10.5" barrel, id take the 5.7. In a conceal carry weapon, I'll take 9mm. The 5.7 was designed for barrels of longer length than small handguns so it's effectiveness is hampered as the barrel length is shortened. The only real advantage the 5.7 has over the 9mm or any other pistol round is that it offers ammo that readily defeats soft armor. In ballistic gel it's performance is dismal. The fr-lbs of energy it delivers at the muzzle is less than a 9mm offers at 100yds so raw power isn't it's forte either. It is good at poking holes through kevlar and requires speed to do damage. I like the 5.7 for a PDW but for a handgun the 9mm gets my vote. That's just my opinion and others will disagree. Thanks for asking some really good questions and being part of the channel.
